REQ: Plughugger A Frozen Moment in Time

The Ensoniq SQ-80 was a very unique sounding synthesizer thanks to its digital lofi waveforms combined with a smooth sounding analog filter.

This soundset is an ambient collection of sounds, inspired by the imperfections, noise and unpredictable nature of the SQ80.

​With the SQ80 V, Arturia expanded the available waveforms and added a world-class effect section which glues together the rough nature of the SQ80 into a beautiful organic sounding instrument.

The design goal of the soundset was to work with the imperfections of the synth and fully enhance its lofi quality. We put a large focus on the dirty sines and triangles, but also modulating of the transwaves as well as working with the short looped waveforms.

The main focus of the soundset lies with pads, soundscapes and soft melodic leads, oddly tuned sine waves, arpeggios & sequences, as well as huge impact hits and strange mechanical sounds.​
