REQ: Reverb Machine OB-Xa Legends 100 Presets Pack
Legends is a collection of famous presets for Arturia OB-Xa V with a focus on recreating classic sounds from some of the biggest hits of the early 80s. Legends includes 100 presets spanning a large variety of sounds: classic bass plucks, rich chorused synth strings, warm Oberheim brass and melodic lead sounds. Whether you want to make synthpop with authentic sounds or want to inject some vintage flavour into modern beats, this pack has you covered.
Arturia OB-Xa V is a software emulation of the Oberheim OB-Xa, a legendary poly synth that, along with its siblings the OB-X and OB-8, were used on records by Michael Jackson, Prince (Dirty Mind and Controversy), Madonna (on her ’83 debut), Van Halen (1984) and Rush (Signals and Moving Pictures) alongside many others. With the Legends preset pack, you get the same sounds used on many legendary albums meticulously recreated at your fingertips.
Some of the highlights of the Legends pack are the faithful recreations of sounds used by Prince and Michael Jackson which I haven’t included in any previous preset packs. All of the sounds in this pack have been made by directly referencing the original tracks and recreating the presets to the same standard of my Synth Sounds series of articles.
All of the patches use Arturia OB-Xa’s onboard effects to include some of the original production effects into the presets. In general these sounds have a less heavy use of effects and modulation than the modern presets featured in my other Arturia OB-Xa V pack.
