REQ: Spitfire Audio Eric Whitacre Choir screenshot

Hard-wired to humanity, nothing gets to the heart of music like the human voice – and Spitfire’s most anticipated release to date is a choir that captures the breathtaking range of our most personal musical instrument. Crafted and conducted by Grammy winner Eric Whitacre and showcasing his elite family of singers, this encyclopaedia of the voice will enrich your composition. It will also blow away any dusty perception of the choir as a niche, occasional ingredient, reserved for angels and demons. With these sounds at your fingertips, you will start to think differently about the human voice. For this library, we returned to the luxury of Lyndhurst Hall at Air Studios, which means Eric Whitacre Choir shares the acoustic DNA of Spitfire’s orchestral catalogue, and will work hand in hand with those libraries.

Every single sample was conducted by Eric Whitacre (google him) and performed by his choir in the Lyndhurst Hall at Air Studios . The result is amazing and a must buy if you are serious about writing choral music.

This one will probably never be released as Spitfire is using their uncracked proprietary player. I'm posting to let you all know that it's out.

... this one will stay on the wishlist, since they use their own engine.

I guess the SF + Kontakt will fall soon!

I don't think so. Their "brain new sampler" is a total mess. Sooner of later they'll be forced to drop this their initiative.

Experienced it´s a mess yourself.... or just a wish they: "Sooner of later they'll be forced to drop this their initiative"?

If SF spending time/money develop their own app I guess it´s because they seriously want to drop Kontakt!

I could surely be wrong, but .....!!

Do you realize how much it costs to develop your own instrument of Kontakt's level?

Frankly no I don´t but it seems you know, so please tell us

It seems like SF already have started develop their own application - the fact they´ve already released at least two libs with it - so I guess they have some plans with it... dont you?

It'll cost them probably more than 10mln $. They could make it much cheaper, but it'll be a very, veeery simplified version of Kontakt. Or they can become programmers and produce something like Falcon on their own, hehe.
They also can hire some naive guys, that'll work for a little paycheck.

It could've been a good idea ~10 years ago, but now it's just idiocy. They're doing it only due to 1 reason - piracy. They really believe that people, that are able to buy their libs, won't buy it, and those who can't will have an obsession for their stuff and somehow will manage to find those 10k for their "Everything bundle". They really think that they'll lose less money if they'll spend on 1)development(including design) and 2)protection, instead of NI fees and so-called "lost profit". So they don't want to make better sampler framework, they even make it worst for users(just look at this their sampler - it's way too big and have a number of other issues), they just don't want some Muhammad, Petr, Bob, Michael or Singmund were able to "try" their stuff.
I'm not an expert, but it seems to me that they'll make things even worst for themselves in near future.

But let's not forget that they have a bunch of "fanboys" that will buy anything from SF, even horse shit These guys could help SF to get through the period of the development and transfer to this new sampler from Kontakt. Btw it seems they aren't confident about this their initiative, otherwise, they would've released updates of all their flagman libraries in the new shell, but they didn't do this, so I assume they're "testing the idea" and this test is failing

Besides, Kontakt 6 has a lot of serious improvements for library developers and considering a growth of competition(like Falcon and open source samplers), NI could(more likely will) lower their fees for developers.

As you see it wasn't their best idea.

The funny thing is, it doesn't matter if piracy is the main and only reason they are making their own sampler. Their products lately are bloated and not even worth it to begin with. Other than actually unique offerings like the Hans Zimmer percussion libraries and Albion One, I don't have or like any of SF's products, including their whole Symphonic Orchestra. I much prefer Orchestral Tools over them completely. They can keep their cruddy sampler haha.

They have already released a choir and a HZ library with this new engine, so I guess the development of the software is pretty much done already ... you also have several free LAB libraries with the same engine, so..... if it´s a 10 million US project (which I seriously doubt) it´s already spend.

I have another theory (homebrew): I think SF are using their new engine to put some pressure on NI.... but thats just a theory

SF doesn´t really have many exceptionel libraries. They´re are good in the recording process but their KSP scripting (Read: Kontakt scripting) sucks big time if you compair to other developers like SonicCouture, Embertone, Fluffy etc etc and that will be their achilles heel forever if they dont change it!...... Jezzzz.. So many nki´s in every library and everything so hard to find - no good workflow!

SF are pretty good at this:
-appear as the leaders of the business
-selling nearly the same library over and over
-make a lot of money..... their resent charity program (LABS) raised several million pounds

Basic line: You have your theories I have mine!

@Phloopy

No, they didn't spent those "10 mln". I said "sampler of Kontakt level will cost ~10 mln(if not more)". They didn't make "their own Kontakt". I wouldn't be surprised if they just used open source sampler and added a couple tweaks here and there. This is very hard taks - to make "another Kontakt". And very expensive.

My point was that their attempts to get rid of Kontakt is nonsense.

And these are not "theories", they're just common sense.

@LALALA

Impressing - you have simply figured it all out!

I wouldn't be surprised if they just used open source sampler and added a couple tweaks here and there

Ok, thats indeed a theory you´ve made up!

Im afraid this isnt an option to have a discussion here LALALA - You have already solved it all

Doesn't sound like nothing I haven't heard before tbh. There are much smaller libraries that offer essentially the same thing. None of the videos or audio demos really show any unique articulations or anything.

To be honest, SF needs to stop turning into 8dio and cranking out as many products as they can, and focus instead on making smaller and better libraries.

I hate SF for their recycled sample Redux Reflux Refurbish release practices with usually no less than 6-7 mics, with almost as many scripting/editing errors as CineSamples or 8dio have. SF sounds good for youtube demo videos and for string pads (sustain notes) and short notes, but legato never seems to be their strongest part.
However this one sounds interesting enough to try out. It's for a limited specific potential customer group though. Let's see if it sticks on the wall.

Just their evo grid is impressive and the rest is good but I was expecting something like a new wordbuilder or a phrase builder with different singing character or emotion... so I still prefer flufy audio dominus

Hello Talula (or other suppliers)

I and without a doubt many others enjoy and are thankfull for your valuable contributions software-wise.
If you happen to "bumb" into this one, it would be awesome!

Thanks in advance
