Frans Caspar Schnitger wurde 1695 geboren und erlernte das Orgelbauhandwerk von seinem Vater Arp.
Im Jahre 1720 wurde Frans Caspar beauftragt, die Orgel in Vollenhove zu überarbeiten und zu erweitern. Es wird sehr oft gesagt, dass Frans Caspar Schnitger sogar noch besser als sein Vater war. Ungeachtet seines berühmten Namens beruht dies vor allem auch auf der von ihm errichteten majestätischen Orgel in der Grote-St. Michaelskerk in Zwolle und der berühmten Überarbeitung und Erweiterung der Van-Hagerbeer-Orgel in der St. Laurenskerk in Alkmaar.
