I don't think it's fair or reasonable to say that, in this case, SAiNT created this rule just because of him.

---that's not what I said-- you're either misreading my comment, or attempting to distort my words. I am saying it seems the rule is necessary because of recent actions by $trong$ound/Sunny/???. However, I can't answer for why Saint decided to do this. Saint did comment in another thread (created by our friend Sunny) that he was unhappy to see the links posted were only for premium sites, and mentioned that he wished someone had PM'd him about it. So it certainly seems that what prompted this change today was another incident with $trong$ound/Sunny/????.

Very many uploads by various uploaders have the same issue

--- I wasn't aware of that and haven't personally seen other uploaders doing that. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just haven't seen it myself. The only person I've heard the issue raised over is $trong$ound/Sunny/????. If it has been going on with other uploaders, then I'm wrong and apologize for implying only $trong$ound was doing this. I'm not here to misinform anyone.

I don't see a reason to try and stir up another argument

---I'm not trying to stir up an argument... if anything, to me you're remark seems more prone to do that than my own comment. I do consistently see an awful lot of discussion about $trong$ound going on for weeks now, in one thread after another. If you're here regularly than you can't possibly have missed that. That's why I stated my frustration. I do appreciate Saint making this new rule, I honestly do, I'm just getting tired of all the attention that it seems we all have to pay to what game $trong$ound is up to on any given day. If you disagree with my sense of frustration that's fine, but please don't stir up the pot yourself by putting words in my mouth or by decrying the opinions of others that you may personally disagree with. That's not particularly fair, either.

I also support the sentiment that Saint is doing and has done an amazing job.

I think most of you fail to realize what exactly he has done though.

I wish to remind everyone of that little rule of the internet...

'Whenever you are getting "something" for "free" on the internet, you ARE the product.'

Think about it.

Regular television is a great example of this. One company (NBC for example) is selling your eyeballs to it's clients (the advertisers).

Facebook, Yahoo, Google, twitter and virtually every other "free" internet service also operate this way. Every time you click on their pages you are giving your information for them to sell to their clients. They make money, you get "Free" stuff or "Services". They are even scanning your "private" emails for keywords to advertise at you with.

The truly impressive thing that Saint has done (for as long as I have been here) is keep all of that ugliness in the background and out of sight.

Obviously there are ads on this forum and in recent memory they have gotten louder and more insistent.

I don't think the operators of this site have purchased their own island, but I doubt they are losing money on it.

I have trouble accepting that someone with the technical skills and diplomacy talents to keep this site running for this many years is living in his mother's basement and working two jobs to pay for the site.

I find the emotional ranting and raving of a few on here to be extremely distasteful. Essentially everyone here is getting an amazing amount of soundware for ABSOLUTELY free and a few people here are forgetting that.

I would much rather like to see some of that energy go into some viable proposals to keep this site what it has been. A very convenient and consistent location to collect what obviously can be found many other places, but also a helpful community of experienced users willing to lend a word of advice.

I am concerned about the balance of power shifting away from Saint. So far he has done a fantastic job guiding the scene and has not made a single misstep that I can recall. I feel like he may have to ban $$ and we will have to get his uploads elsewhere or risk ruining the AudioZ scene. If everyone behaves as $$ then we will have a completely and less desirable situation here. If $$ dictates the policies then what is special about this site will be gone.

The pressure on the cyberlocker system is going to increase as we go forward. The cat is out of the bag. Looking back it is easy to see that if the Movie Studios, Record Labels and Software Publishers had embraced the subscription/locker business model they would be making money instead of Kim Dotcom and Sunny/$$. But here we are.....

The biggest danger we face is that if there becomes too much fragmentation and everyone who uploads does so only under conditions that yield the highest payout for their investment and the scene splinters and is destroyed.

Since January I have been downloading about 15% of what I used to. It just takes too long to deal with low speed portals and several times I have got into days of free slow downloading and the remaining parts are corrupt or disappear. Long term this is even bad for profiteers and especially for the whole AudioZ scene.

To make the "scene" as strong and stable as possible we really need to settle on a few hosts and file sizes that make sense.

Uploading 500MB files to a host that only supports one 400MB per day is kind of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. People will click elsewhere and we all loose out. Profiteers and Leechers.

Uploaders, look at the bigger picture and think about long term stability. You will make a lot more if your following is able to grow and your uploads are accessible to the widest audience.

Thanks for reading.

Thats a nice rule...

But, what about to upload contents at a really accessible file hosters? (MediaFire,Ziddu,Zippyshare,Limelinx)

These ones are free in every ways, and for me thats the real deal of this share contents with people without expecting anything in return, rather than share other kinds of content.

Thats just my point of view.
SHARING IS CARING.

Rico88: Yeah. I'm really not interested in starting one of the post dissection arguments (where we trade back and forth quoting random sentences from each post). They're nearly always much more trouble than they're worth, and I don't have much time to chat today, unfortunately. Everything I said in the first post still stands.

As I said, you may or may not have intended to start an argument, bringing up Strong Sound just tends to do so. My point was that SS isn't the only one that has been posting only premium links, other have done the same both out of greed and just laziness, so it wasn't quite necessary to name him specifically. ... See? I can use bold and italics to make myself seem more convincing like you and Kookaboo! rofl (And that's honestly just a joke, Kookaboo's posts are pretty much all worthwile and respectful, and I agree with very many of your past comments)

No hard feelings at all against you, just wanted to put in my own opinion for what it's worth. Have a good one!

@alchemist

--- that's a great post! funny, but reading it I feel you may be critical of someone like me that's spoken up lately about some of what's been going on, but I try to keep an open-mind, and I really have to say that was a terrific comment.

The fact is that until this recent friction, I was always a big fan of Saint's, and felt he does an amazing job with this site. It's not easy keeping sites with this type of content running for the long-term, but he's done it and generally done it quite well. I'm genuinely puzzled by the recent dynamic between Saint, $trong$ound, and the site policies. I keep thinking there must be something going on in the background that we aren't aware of, and just don't understand. But it's fair and important to remember that there's more to Saint and this site than what's gone on recently with $$.

Thanks again for a very thoughtful post.

I don't think I know anything here, but I am open to the possibility that they could be the same person, or at least working together. Either way I am grateful.

Sincerely consider the of the amount of energy that must have to go into this operation. People deserve to make something while it lasts.

I agree and understand the "No Selling Warez" rule. That is the law of the jungle.

Where we are at now though is significantly beyond some buddies trading CDRs that they burnt. Here we have uploading time, cyberlocker account fees, link maintenance, spies and saboteurs, international government agencies encroaching... it is not 1997 anymore. The AudioZ link library is probably worth millions of dollars of soundware if you had to go out and buy it all at Guitar Center. There are a few key people doing a lot of work to provide a very valuable service to the rest.

Rico, I am not criticizing you or anyone else that is speaking their opinion. I am only adding to the discussion that we should also put our energy into finding a system that will work for everyone both Uppers and Leechers. I don't mind clicking on links if it means things can continue. It is the least we can do as a group. Things are going to continue to evolve and change so let's put our brains into it and make this work even better.

What can we do that is going to work? Two sections? One for "free" stuff and one for "Pay" links? VIP membership? A two or three-week window before other users can make mirrors? What is going to work?

Exactly! yes And that's much, much different than sites like veestklup where moderators act(ed) really stubborn, inflexible +excluding the best suppliers! AudioZ rules - thanks to its flexibility.

--- same here my friend! Not to worry. It is true that even bringing up $$ seems to lead to friction around here, and so your point is well taken. Besides, we can disagree on some things and still remain friends, right?

Absolutely! mates Besides, although the other uploaders doing the same thing is true, you made a good point about the recent article with SAiNT commenting- I hadn't caught that.

What on earth is "DownloadGalore.com" that appears first after every post?
(used to be "Pirat server" or something)

My browser (firefox & iPad-Safari) always get multiple re-directions when I click the relevant link!

Funny thing is you cannot really control this rule. For example Strong Sounds Uploaded links are always down. I'm sure they are just fake links to obey the rules. Posting links which are down is easy, I can do that the whole day. rofl

GOOD STUFF..!! Dont take no nonsense..!! :)

phenomboy,
Maybe add option for specific mirrors allowed. Because in many posts, people (including me) are requesting ul.to mirrors which the contributor couldn't provide as his account on that host were banned. In such cases why not allow others members to posts mirros only with the specific missing hosts ?

yes.. good idea..!

I Swear Ive Offered the Solution to this problem COUNTLESS OF TIMES!!!

Its So SIMPLE!

For FREE USERS - USE LETITBIT or SHAREFLARE! (links have started to disappear!)

You can download up to around 3GB! in one single download!! for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also for SMALL downloads (presets) use RAPIDSHARE! no waiting just get it STRAIGHT AWAY!

That means you do not waste your UL.to slot! on a 4mb download and wait an hour!!

and please tell me how many times you CANT get a slot for http://www.filefactory.com/ its beyond a joke!

Both Letbit and Shareflare are annoying here where I surf, often the download breaks up after 70 percent, is not accessible etc.

For free users RS is quite good, though they have their 30kb/sec-restriction afaik.

Generally spoken, almost all free services are a pita.

Mediafire and Depositfiles are faster and better without any premiums, though MF have limitation on file size (200mb), but it's ok for multipart arhives
RS can be forced with vinaleech and rapid8 resources
  Resident 30.04.2012 119

I would say:

Netload (like heaven in my opinion), Rapidshare (stable, reliable even with the 30kb/s issue) and Rapidgator (of course, only small files = free download).

Thanks for this rule - anyone else noticed julzblusky's links are a pain in the butt to dl?
I made a suggestion in a previous thread about forming a co-op and buying samples together ...
...But then again who listens to me anyway, my wife doesn't! :)
