The new PACE Eden Protection as seen in TSAR-Reverb is a complete new protection scheme. I heard it has more than 10 new crypto/hash algorithms in it and implements a virtual machine.

ok...i do know pro tools getting cracked will be like cubase or waves getting cracked (maybe a year from now) , but for those of us that have a ilok and a number , all we want is the cross-grade .

Meh. It'll get cracked if XVX ever decide to come out of hiding again. Personally, I couldn't care less. I'll take Logic over Protools any day.

Why would anyone want ProTools?

If you have M-Audio equipment that's ProTools-Ready, you already have it.
And if you just want the software: mates, ProTools is just the same like any DAW; heck, even worse.
What's with the RTAS (or whatever) plugin bullshit. Anti-Steinberg much...

Just get Cubase, Ableton, Reaper, -hell- even Logic is better...
I assure you, it'll be better than waiting for the next new version of it :]

Please elaborate; I cannot think of any (valid) reason why ProTools is better than any other DAW.
Comparing ProTools to Cockos Reaper, okay.
But compare it to Cubase or Logic...

I love Ableton Live for its simple GUI and user-friendly features (first DAW I found that let's me save from a crash!).
But I like Cubase as well; not user-friendly, but very detailed and complex once you get into it. Too much features for my needs, but definitely not worse than ProTools - if not better.

Yes, please elaborate why you prefer that DAW; I'm just this anti-ProTools guy cause they make too much money of scamming people with over-expensive hardware (which is REQUIRED - but up to now -) to run ProTools itself.

I asked some Avid bloke on a convention whether I could use an ordinary USB/Firewire Interface (non M-Audio) and he said: "No, only ProTools certified equipment will work with ProTools. For a cheap option, you can buy this -crappy- 2x2 interface and get access to ProTools right away"

For some people always the newest things are the best things. Just to be able to say "I know/have something you don't".
"until Sonar X1 Comes out in December" is another proof for that. It comes out in December, but he is already claiming that it will be the best DAW. Not to be taken seriously.



I think not everybody knows if a scene release of something exists, so a request can sometimes also be read like a question, if it exists. Just respond that it doesn't, and that should be ok.

i don t know if there s a daw that s better than others at the moment,the work they re supposed to do is recording,the real difference should be on how stable they are and how much time they can help us to save.i think it depends on personal tastes and needs.it seems that most daw s are filled with some features that serve the cunrrent musical scene(loop based in primis).usually i compose with sibelius in which i use kontakt instruments and some others,then i export the audio tracks in pro tools,and i think its interface i comfortable for me to work with,i tried other daws and pt is my favourite,maybe if i worked differently there wolud be some product that would be better.as long as the only real instrument i play in real time is guitar i m fine with it

will , let me put thing in order from my view....

1.there are some (like myself) that are on unemployment pay . yes i would buy PT9 in a heart beat if i could have the income to buy it .

2.yes, i have bought a lot of software from logic on the PC to PT8 (and other things as well)

3.why pro tools vs. others is the question people are asking .for me it was the Gui in PT8 .i could not stand pro tools before that , and i liked the way it looked and read reports that is was close to logic on a PC. so , i jumped .

4.why not cubase or cakewalk ? well, for me cubase has/had to many steps to go through to do something (ie the vsti rack set-up) and i did not like the dark/gray Gui look , cakewalk is icon based and i don't like that at all.

5. is pro tools like logic on a PC ? YES , without a question and if need be i can go in to detail on this last point.
