The vinyl record renaissance over the past decade has brought new fans to a classic format and transformed our idea of a record collector: younger, both male and female, multicultural. This same revival has made buying music more expensive, benefited established bands over independent artists and muddled the question of whether vinyl actually sounds better than other formats.

Vinyl Nation digs into the crates of the record resurgence in search of truths set in deep wax: Has the return of vinyl made music fandom more inclusive or divided? What does vinyl say about our past here in the present? How has the second life of vinyl changed how we hear music and how we listen to each other?

Not so keen on the size, I found Vinyl.Nation.2020.1080p.WEBRip.x265-RARBG, which is only 1.45GB.
Thanks Pirat for bring this to my attention.

I am particularly interested in the notion that vinyl sales have only benefited established artists. It is tempting to think that this format, one celebrated for being the format of the true music fan, would go hand in hand with the burgeoning indie music scenes, while in actuality, people are out there buying 180 gram vinyl reissues of 55 year old Beatles records and the like.

I would be interested in seeing a documentary that examines the burgeoning cassette craze, which really does appear to represent the indie music scene. Unfortunately, the fact that tapes are the worst format ever, both practically and in terms of fidelity, is an indication of how much kitsch and fetishization have trumped the importance of evaluating music honestly.

It is interesting to see how important it is to people for music to be a thing you can hold, rather than simply behold.
