I use Firefox (and Facebook,) so this is perfect.
That being said, the ridiculous outbreak of shock & awe following Facebook's unforeseeable mistake (tongue-firmly-in-cheek,) that allowed Facebook data to be leisurely perused by the highest bidders, is beginning to bother me. Is everyone *so* shocked about all of this? Did you think you and Facebook were tight? Facebook serves Facebook--don't ever forget that. It is a business, and businesses run on information, cash and whatever else they can kype from you.

another great add on for firefox is ghostery antitracking app....
just turn off addblocking and use ublock origin for addblocking...

anonymox is proxy plugin for firefox but i use tor then...
but nord is the ultimate shit for that price and also without discount

Other than Ublock, Uppersafe and Disconnect are two more that I use (as well as Ghostery, Privacy Badger and, when need be, NoScript,) that are helpful in keeping crap from pestering you. I have found that all of these add-ons are necessary if you are going to go prowling torrent sites. Sometimes you do have to diable one or two momentarily to allow links and captchas through, but other than that, they all set me up for a smooth browsing experience. :)

I don't use facebook. besides the obvious (of cutting into my drumming time), when I use it it also cuts into my guitar time

Same way with your smartphone... Do you really believe that ISPs don't record EVERYTHING? Trust me, I already work in one of the biggest companies and I had direct access to that info.

You are probably right by experience and is it surely useful for some security reasons. Lately I started using multi-containers from Firefox with uBlock Origin and Ghostery and now, no more publicity, pop up windows etc... To prevent from being tracked with all you do, these tools are doing a pretty good job. Also, scrolling on Web pages is way faster, overall a much better browsing experience.
