Puremagnetik Wade v1.0.2 / v1.0.1 WiN macOS RETAiL-ohsie screenshot
ohsie | 19 October 2024 | 37 MB
Meet Wade - a versatile synthesizer with some quirky tones and tape-aged character. Inspired by the "west coast" synthesis school, Wade is built around two complex oscillators — one of them a modulator too — and a lo-pass gate. While Wade doesn't aim to compete with west coast legends such as Buchla, it has a unique sound that could be compared to everything from a Casiotone to a Mellotron.

A probing biography of world-renowned Jewish singer and actor Al Jolson and the history of his performance in and the making of The Jazz Singer

Al Jolson, born Asa Yoelson, immigrated from a shtetl in Lithuania to the United States in 1894 after his father secured a job as a rabbi in Washington, D.C. A poor, Yiddish-speaking newcomer navigating a racially segregated and antisemitic America, young Jolson dreamed of becoming a star, and he did.

I'm sorry to say that I couldn't get the backing track and stems for this cover, as it was made on my previous iMac. I still have it, but with my plugin licenses transferred to my Macbook I can't open the project with the mixing in place. Also there are issues with then opening the old projects onto my new Macbook as they run on different processors, which I know sucks and shouldn't be an issue.

ToneBytes Wowcoder VST v1.0-ASSiGN screenshot
Team ASSiGN | 20 OCTOBER 2011 | 4.59 MB
Wowcoder — is a VST effect plug-in for Windows that recreates a classical 16-band digital vocoder.

Wowcoder does not have an internal synthesizer: the modulator and carrier come from an external signal. This approach of using external synthesizers provides more varied and rich sounding timbres.

Noise, Water, Meat: A History of Voice, Sound, and Aurality in the Arts by Douglas Kahn PDF screenshot
1999 | MIT Press | ISBN: 9780262611725 | 2.67 MB | 466 Pages | PDF
This interdisciplinary history and theory of sound in the arts reads the twentieth century by listening to it—to the emphatic and exceptional sounds of modernism and those on the cusp of postmodernism, recorded sound, noise, silence, the fluid sounds of immersion and dripping, and the meat voices of viruses, screams, and bestial cries. Focusing on Europe in the first half of the century and the United States in the postwar years, Douglas Kahn explores aural activities in literature, music, visual arts, theater, and film. Placing aurality at the center of the history of the arts, he revisits key artistic questions, listening to the sounds that drown out the politics and poetics that generated them. Artists discussed include Antonin Artaud, George Brecht, William Burroughs, John Cage, Sergei Eisenstein, Fluxus, Allan Kaprow, Michael McClure, Yoko Ono, Jackson Pollock, Luigi Russolo, and Dziga Vertov.

Earth Sound Earth Signal: Energies and Earth Magnitude in the Arts by Douglas Kahn EPUB screenshot
2013 | University of California Press | ISBN: 9780520257559 | 7.12 MB | 344 Pages | EPUB
Earth Sound Earth Signal is a study of energies in aesthetics and the arts, from the birth of modern communications in the nineteenth century to the global transmissions of the present day. Douglas Kahn begins by evoking the Aeolian sphere music that Henry David Thoreau heard blowing along telegraph lines and the Aelectrosonic sounds of natural radio that Thomas Watson heard through the first telephone; he then traces the histories of science, media, music, and the arts to the 1960s and beyond. Earth Sound Earth Signal rethinks energy at a global scale, from brainwaves to outer space, through detailed discussions of musicians, artists and scientists such as Alvin Lucier, Edmond Dewan, Pauline Oliveros, John Cage, James Turrell, Robert Barry, Joyce Hinterding, and many others.

2012 | Rowman & Littlefield Publishers | ISBN: 9780810885653 | 1.16 MB | 316 Pages | EPUB
The musical scores of Stanley Kubrick’s films are often praised as being innovative and forward-looking. Despite playing such an important part in his productions, however, the ways in which Kubrick used music to great effect is still somewhat mysterious to many viewers. Although some viewers may know a little about the music in 2001 or A Clockwork Orange, few are aware of the particulars behind the music in Kubrick's other films.

Jungian Music Psychotherapy: When Psyche Sings by Joel Kroeker PDF screenshot
2019 | Routledge | ISBN: 9781138625662 | 0.99 MB | 208 Pages | PDF
Music is everywhere in our lives and all analysts are witness to musical symbols arising from their patient's psyche. However, there is a common resistance to working directly with musical content. Combining a wide range of clinical vignettes with analytic theory, Kroeker takes an in-depth look at the psychoanalytic process through the lens of musical expression and puts forward an approach to working with musical symbols within analysis, which he calls Archetypal Music Psychotherapy (AMP).

ToneBytes Vocotron VSTi v1.0-ASSiGN screenshot
Team ASSiGN | 24 FEBRUARY 2010 | 8.06 MB
Vocotron is a VST instrument plug-in for Windows that combines the functions of a sampler and vocoder. Vocotron's keyboard is divided into two key zones, like on the classic Mellotron and Chamberlin "samplers". However, the zone's functions are slightly different: the left side reproduces samples and is a modulator for the integrated vocoder, and the right side sets the tone, it is the carrier for the vocoder.

Music as Image: Analytical Psychology and Music in Film by Benjamin Nagari PDF screenshot
2016 | Routledge | ISBN: 9780815357476 | 994 KB | 176 Pages | PDF
Through a theoretical and practical exploration of Jungian and post-Jungian concepts surrounding image, this book moves beyond the visual scope of imagery to consider the presence and expression of music and sound, as well as how the psyche encounters expanded images – archetypal, personal or cultural – on both conscious and unconscious levels. By closely examining music in film, Nagari considers music’s complementary, enhancing, meaningful, and sometimes disruptive, contribution to expressive images.

Music and the Mind by Anthony Storr EPUB screenshot
2015 | Free Press | ISBN: 9781501122095 | 1 MB | 320 Pages | EPUB
Why does music have such a powerful effect on our minds and bodies? It is the most mysterious and most tangible of all forms of art. Yet, Anthony Storr believes, music today is a deeply significant experience for a greater number of people than ever before. In this book, he explores why this should be so. Drawing on a wide variety of opinions, Storr argues that the patterns of music make sense of our inner experience, giving both structure and coherence to our feelings and emotions. It is because music possesses this capacity to restore our sense of personal wholeness in a culture which requires us to separate rational thought from feelings that many people find it so life-enhancing that it justifies existence.
