On first listen, War & Combat Sounds seems littered with the same explosions, cowboy fights, and “Medieval Battle Camp” samples that have been turning up on sound effects collections for decades. Repeated listens do little to dispel that first impression. However, the producers do have a vision; the groundbreaking “Axe Fight: Two People,” which omits the typical single-person axe fight, adds an entirely new dimension to the annals of combat — an opponent.
