Masterclass Hans Zimmer Teaches Film Scoring TUTORiAL-SYNTHiC4TE screenshot
SYNTHiC4TE | March 09 2017 | 5.99 GB
Tell a story with music

Hans Zimmer didn’t see a film until he was 12 years old. Since then, he’s scored over 150 films, including Inception, The Lion King, and The Dark Knight. In his MasterClass, the self-taught Academy Award winner teaches how he creates sounds from nothing, composes compelling character themes, and scores a movie before ever seeing it. By the end, you’ll have everything you need to tell your story.

Hans Zimmer teaches you how to tell a story with music in 30+ exclusive video lessons.

the problem is your OS, Mac (if you use it) doesnt have a good video player for all the formats.
if nothing helps setup a windows version and install MPHC with k-lite bundle.

maybe VLC for mac works?
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

Hello Dizac,
if you're on macos you can view the videos directly in Finder with Quicklook: select a video and just press the space key.
Or, as Articstorm said, VLC is a good solution: you can download it here: http://www.videolan.org/

To be a masterclass, there must be mastery. To teach, you must understand thoroughly. Teh Frame has made a career out of sliding between as many as two (count em!) notes; proof indeed that anyone can have a career in Hollywood. I guess the people who've watched this course will move on to his advanced class: learning chopsticks w/ Hans Zimmer pt1-31, next?

Approximatw quote from Hans Z: "This studio is where I spend my entire days except sleeping. I like to compose, I like to make music". As long as you're not spending that amount of time doing music, I don't think you qualify to speak against someone who actually works his a$$ off (Zimmer).

do you have a career in hollywood? i doubt it... and i doubt you ever will get to a point where you're as influencial as hans. i honestly don't really like most of han's music(or the movies that he makes music for - although i'd never pass on the opportunity to make music for any one of them: a job is a job. artists gotta eat!) but his determination, lack of laziness, his openness to trying new ideas and then giving back to the world by teaching a class(which is more than most other movie composers these days) is pretty damn inspirational and awesome. i hope faps like you can prove us all wrong one day and give back as much inspiration at some point as gents like zimmer have.

U make a lot of assumptions, there. Main one is that I don't have a career doing what teh Frame does. But anyway, that's kinda irrelevant. I've had this conversation w/ u Zimmerbots before. It's ok to be defensive & angry, I suppose. Well, maybe not for you, exactly. But my concern is just the direction of travel; if Teh Frame is held up as an hero. Our job, I thought, was to provide emotional feedback to action onscreen. If risible hacks like Teh Frame are now an example, we should all give up trying to innovate, improve technically or even bother playing. Just do teh very minimum. Don't even bother to have the ambition to play even a chord. Just do slow gliss between two notes and parp away through ur presets. As long as it's in Dm. I'm sure there's a bot that can do that job. It just won't take a lot of programming skill to produce. Or elicit any emotion to listeners. That is all.

Who doesn't? Nobody I know. Most likely, nobody u know in teh biz.

the overly self conscious, egotistical musician thinks that every song of theirs must display some bloated, gaudy amount of notes/skill in order for people to think it's "smart" or "any good" - but ultimately that egotistical thinking is not smart at all but rife with insecurity. with film scoring, you only put as many notes in as the scene needs so as to not distract. some scenes or themes really only need a few notes to get the job done - no need to make it tacky with too many notes just because you think "only complicated music is good music". i mean, it's not like trying to write music for chamber or orchestra - you're writing music to propel the scenes, not propel your ego. this same principle applies to all styles of music that need to be accessible and functional. but by all means if you're writing for an avant garde porno film, please use all the fucked up notes you wish - there it makes sense. but honestly, considering your verbiage in your post, you sound too immature or unprofessional to ever be given an avante garde porn film or otherwise a film to score such as someone like hans zimmer has.

Very interesting and inspiring conversations about how to achieve goals and what guidelines to apply for in different situations. Even if I am not particular a Zimmer fan one thing is for sure I respect him for what he has accomplished.
This story reveal many good tips that are essential when it comes to work together or work with someone and the communication between the director and the composer.
Say what you want but this sure gave me a great insight and inspiration for my creative process! and That's all there is to it :)

Thanks a lot Horsemen! I've thought he would actually teach something since it's a masterclass. Maybe he should call it motivational speaker or inspirational speaker, it would be more honest. I'm glad I didn't spent 90 bucks on that, but I'm sure some people will like it.

So this is another "Masterclass" where great artists talk nice to motivate you but you don't learn in fact anything?
