Each session is somehow connected with the said course, but one does not need to have the course to understand how to play the easy versions of the songs. After a while, once you get more skills in guitar playing, the Song Hits provides other challenges through more complex songs in more advanced sessions. It allows the student to play well known songs, which is a great thing when you are learnig an instrument. The videos are very good, Steve Krenz is a great guitar player and teacher and provides us with some general background of each song in the book.
