"Music no theory" tutorials were the best to learn music theory.

I thought I'd give them a mention.

the best learning resource for music theory is the perfect pitch and the relativ pitch - because music theory isnt something you can watch - its something you have to hear and to practice.
If you want to supply something, you can. PM is open for that.

Do you really want to know ?! ...
I didn't watch this, but to me Music NO Theory 1+2 is A MUST HAVE! yes

BTW, who said that the links are dead ?!

Sorry to say that, but you're real ignorants if you merely believe someone telling "Links are dead!" without checking by yourselves the truth of it.

For amateurs trying little concepts in music. First of all there is no "Theory for Music", maybe in the beginning when Pythagorians were simply trying to understand the first physics concepts, that time the octave trembling was magic for them, but, there is "The Big Bang Theory". Theory is when we have evidences and someone have arguments to context it, in music we don't have this.
Or before "Rameau" ideas, when he took time to understand the wonder of sound inversions, it was easy with the advent of keyboard, that was at first the most important calculator to understand music. All the rest are simple arranged concepts. The hard work is to be able to sit the whole day to write your ideas., who have time for that, is it because, we don't have "THE COMPOSERS" on these days, people want everything ready. Remember that, when Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, Stravinsky etc, did their compositions, there were no TV set with lots of "TV series" in front of them, games or even the radio playing. By the way, the "video games" took all attention of children and are destroying a full generation of orchestra musicians for the future, tomorrow well not have winds, string musicians for the best orchestras.

Right! ... Happy downloading! mates

Music theory exist at least since Pythagoras in a way or another. You're right in that music theory as we know nowadays is quite recent. On the other hand, i don't know if there will be wind/string musicians nor orchestras in the future ... but one thing i can say for sure is that music will do ... and we don't know even how this music will be, nor if it will be constructed based on harmonies we use now.

As my music teacher used to say, music theory (as everything) is not some kind of closed box in which nothing can change, it's alive and in constant change ... and all those who pretend everything to be fixed, are nothing but a fools. After all, you're not the same person as when you were 5, are you ?.

Probably you're right about Chopin, Bethoven, and the rest ... and also about children, videogames and so on, but not all the children will become modern Chopins, Bethovens, etc. ... but i'm sure that at least one of them (or a couple of them) will become as revolutionary as Bach was, and will be remembered as well by future generations.

Live itself is a living thing, trying to make it fix only because our fears, or merely because we feel so comfortable with the known that we are so terrified about any kind of change is ...

I've never understood when i hear people saying "this is music and that is merely noise" ... they forget that what they consider music now was previously considered as to be noise ... so, is there any truth about it ?

Thanks for listening mates

fraggle83, No my friend, we don't know nothing about the old Greek concepts to do music, nor even used any terms of them, because was all destroyed, was found in XX century in Turkey an Epitaph with a song written in Greek, but, only that. All we use today is the base of a very long empirical process to the natural physic of ours poorest ears, so poor that we need long years training to hear simple intervals and cadences. Took centuries to build what they called since XVI century "theory", Better if they called it "theorem", as the famous Italian "Cantelli's Theorem", when all evidences will happen during an infinite scale. Music could be so, a simple theorem, believe on it till happens and without contest. There are differences between theory, theorem, logic and simple music concepts that some people took a life to learn, but, there are millions of authors that love to write music books for making money, they love to magnify things, and they have written all these, after simple Afro-Americans and Europeans did centuries of music.
When they finally understood the physics in the end of XIX to the brain explosion in the beginning of XX, (read the entire text in the spoiler below)
