One thing is for sure!

It's a great time to be an orchestral composer. We have an incredible array of orchestral sounds right at our fingertips. We voice a chord on our midi keyboards and an entire section jumps out of our speakers.

And if you only have a few ideas to orchestrate, it's fantastic. But what happens if your composition starts to get more complex?

The ideas keep coming and you start adding more and more tracks to your masterpiece. Then pretty soon you're spending more time adding tracks and selecting instruments than you are creating music.

And that's not all. You notice that your system starts freaking out with all the extra load you're giving it. And when you do finally get it to where you want it, you've got to do the whole thing all over again for your next project.

There must be an easier way!

Set and Forget

You need a system that lets you get on with composing rather than fighting against you every step of the way. You need a system that preloads a selection of quick sketching patches for those moments of inspiration. You need all your favorite instruments 'on hand so you're not wasting time loading them up every time you want them.

What you really need is a well-designed 'template' that can load into your DAW before each project.

Maybe you already knew that. Maybe you've tried to set a template for yourself but given up because it seemed way too hard.

Yes! Setting up a great template can be a chore for some people but let me tell you, once you've got it right, you won't ever go back to not using one again.

What You'll Learn

1. Templates. What's the Big Deal?
You'll quickly learn why a great template can become your 'best friend' when composing orchestral cues.

2. Routing and Organization.
A big part of having an effective template is ensuring the instruments you want are 'ready to go' without having to worry about what triggers them and where their outputs are.

3. Setting up your DAW for film scoring
Adding the extra tracks you'll need to score your film projects like tempo, markers, dialogue, temp music track, etc.

4. Setting Up Reverbs
When, Why, How, and which ones?

5. Understanding Kontakt
You'll learn how to build multi's in Kontakt and how to set EQ and levels inside the instruments of the multi.

6. Optimize Your System
Learn how to get the most out of your system with the tricks to optimize your setup.

7. What The Pro's DO
Have a look at the way some of the very best composers set up their templates.

8. A Cue In Ten Minutes
Watch Marc write a cue using pre-orchestrated ensemble patches for a big sound ultra fast.

Modules includes in this course

MODULE 1. Using Templates To Boost Productivity
MODULE 2. Minimum Template
MODULE 3. The Tool and the Sound
MODULE 4. Automatic Mixing

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but for Rapidgator links are not organized, many same name and number llinks.

Yes, there were some double links in Rapidgator, but I fixed this now.
If you use JDownloader this should not have been a problem, all the contrary, more links to the same files make it faster to download.

Expected a more concise and logical explanation but turns out to be very chaotic and fragmented. Obviously the guy knows his stuff but fails in presenting it. All loose ends which only leaves me confused. What are your experiences?

I haven't watch this yet but I have seen similar tutorials about having templates and working with them. In my opinion, we find our way of working while we're working. Everybody got different computers, plugins and instruments. So everybody will have different templates. If you make only a few projects in a year, then you don't need a template. If you're really busy with making new music, you end up having your own template. You may think that you need to create a template before making music, but I say the opposite. Start making dozens of songs first, and then your template will automatically evolve according to your needs.

To each their own; but IMO that is both a bit naive and inefficient.

There is a LOT that can be streamlined in a proper template, especially for media composers. Routings, stems, library choices, etc.

the point is not to conform your future workflow to haphazard and rushed decisions made in the heat of battle, which is what you end up with in your way, but to think it through calmly and make better thought out decisions that might require a little more organizing and you won't have time to do on a deadline. Decisions that are of course informed already by the many projects you have already done.

If you are not doing actual paid work and can take your time, then fine. But this is designed for budding professionals. To not develop a good template is, well, naive.

But again, to each their own.

12GB, oh my. Although interesting and he is knowledgeable I feel the presenter just takes way too long to explain a topic and loses the interest of the viewer.

Agree. He is like Colin Farrell on acid. Too fast. Concepts are great though.

He lives not far from me, and I've met him a few times. To be fair, he actually is a busy guy both composing and running this business with his wife. And he has a young child, I believe.

I imagine he's just a bit in a hurry all the time. That's the job. Anyway, if someone wants to compose in this town they better be able to listen and think fast. Or back up the video.

i do not think that this guy lives about composisng for films,... if you are in the business you are 100%, not making courses,...i suppose that its very difficult, but if i was a composer full time, i would not spend my time making courses,...

If you have a chance to meet him, advice him slowing down both physically and mentally. He is always talking too fast with weird accent and pronunciation as well as bad behavior in arranging stuff.

I do not think that this guy is a full time composer, if you are, you are 100% , maybe he has to earn some money doing this, i suppose that is not an easy task, if i was a music composer for films, i would not spend time making a lot of courses, and hours and hours and material,..i suppose that in LA you have to have "friends" to be in the business like for other jobs,...
