so this guy just pretty much puts all the channels in the red then uses a glue compressor to soft clip at the end after he puts a gain plugin to reduce it -7db on the master? quite confusing saying people keep saying you should not be in the red especially on the master so although there are no real rules for music production is this really a good way to go? for saying hes signed up im quite shocked because that was what i was doing before i learnt to do it the other way

Sometimes it works. It acts like an over drive or clipping the sounds like you would do on a analogue mixer. Use your ears, if it sounds ok then it is ok
