Several years ago (maybe even ten years ago) I crossed paths with this little book, and since then it has been with me everyday. It is organized in three sections: theory, chords over the fretboard, and exercises. It requires some discipline to move section by section over the three parts, but when you got it going, the little book do opens the guitar and the fretboard in a way that it didn´t happen with me before. I was hooked on the "Guitar Grimoire" (horrendously dry, plenty of information) and the splendid "Guitar Chemistry" (horrendously difficult, awesome amount of information).
But with this little gem, John Ganapes won the day. I would say, tho, that the title is a bit misleading, as the information in this book can be used to anything from rock to country to blues to metal to whatever. It is the real rock foundation of chords constructions and voicings on the guitar.
Very, very highly recommended reading for the six-stringers down here.
And a very big THANKS to satch for the share,
