Electronic Sound Issue 125 2025 screenshot

With the release of their highly anticipated collaboration album 'Tall Tales', we are delighted to have Global Communication producer MARK PRITCHARD and Radiohead frontman THOM YORKE on the cover of the latest Electronic Sound. We have a tasty turquoise vinyl seven-inch featuring one of the highlights of the album plus an exclusive instrumental to accompany the magazine too.

'Tall Tales' is as idiosyncratic as you'd expect from Pritchard and Yorke. These two tireless innovators have created something truly special here. There are echoes of the golden era of Warp Records and moments of ‘OK Computer’-ish digital anxiety, but it feels like a haunted storybook for these strange times, playing out as a cryptic fable of the modern condition. Think the Brothers Grimm meets ‘Black Mirror’. The record is the main topic of our in-depth interview with Pritchard and Yorke, but there's still time for them to offer their thoughts on everything from technology to identity to artificial intelligence.

As always, we have a fantastic array of other features as well. Richard Fearless unveils his first DEATH IN VEGAS album in nearly a decade, while XMAL DEUTSCHLAND's Anja Huwe remembers the post-punk band’s days at 4AD. Stand by for THE MOONLANDINGZ, DUBSTAR, MIXMASTER MORRIS and CHINA CRISIS along the way, plus we have a photo essay on THE RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP’s final hurrah at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios, as they sign off with a new sample library. Everything in its right place, then.

We also have a dazzling MARK PRITCHARD & THOM YORKE seven-inch to accompany this month's magazine. A limited edition pressing on turquoise vinyl, the A-side is 'The Men Who Dance In Stag's Heads', the most intriguing cut on the pair's 'Tall Tales' album. Yorke sings in a low voice, a departure from his distinctive falsetto, his delivery almost spoken word, while Pritchard’s music is characterised by bassoons and the drone of a harmonium, together with slow, hypnotic, Velvet Underground-style drums. Turn the disc over for an instrumental version of the track which cannot be heard anywhere else.

As with all our bundle releases, this record is only available to readers of Electronic Sound, so be sure to get your copy straight away.
