An oldie from 1982, kind of a DIY book on creating your own hardware synth, from what I read.

It's a shame no one has addressed yet a single book to what should be learned BEFORE reading all those pro-sounding books... I mean, not everyone took electronics in high school

I've got this book in paperback.

The content of this is what a lot (most) analog synths ~1980's are based on.
Includes some discrete function modules and some using then famous integrated circuits for specific purpose modules.

Seriously - you can build your own Prophet-5 using the contents of this book!

The other classic text (in hardback) is "Musical Applications of Microprocessors" by Hal Chamberlan.
