Twentieth-Century Harmony: Creative Aspects and Practice by Vincent Persichetti screenshot
One of the most important books on contemporary music in the twentieth century.

Here is my little contribution to the AudioZ community.

The author examines the nature of intervals in various contexts, discusses the modes and other scales employed in modern music, describes the formation and uses of chords by thirds, by fourths, and by seconds, of added-note chords and polychords; he deals with different types of harmonic motion, with harmonic rhythm and dynamic sand ornamentation, with harmonic behavior in tonality, polytonality, atonality and serial composition.

This isn't any ordinary music theory book. This is the kind of book that you might want to read several times, over and over again. The author did not copy and paste a library of scores as a filler material.

Uau, I have the original in spanish, tool hard to read. Now I'll wonder it in english. By the way, It's not a book for everyone, must be high level musician and play quite good piano. Great to try.

It was a big contribution to audioz. I remember when years ago when I was studying in Englang, conductors from India, Malaysia, Argentina etc didn't have money to buy simple and master books, then I started scanning many of them for the first time on the web. Today I see the same books I did on the web: Salzer, Berlioz Orquestration etc. I'm proud to contribute to all those guys who could never buy just some pages of those expensive books. In USA happend differently, I could never thought that students of the most richest country couldn't buy URTEXT scores, so they bought the ones not so expensive from DOVER Publication and did all remarks over the notes copying from the original Urtexts from the School library. Simply intellignet and amazing idea.
