I was going to make a comment myself when I saw this up, The Smiths were a truly great band. Then of course Morrissey went off on his own but I always liked their tracks better. And I'm sure it's not the only non-electronic band you ever loved. If so then we need to hang out sometime, I guarantee I would change your mind.

Ahh Cat..maybe you are right..I also liked Suede, OASIS and Blur..and of course also Depeche Mode in their guitar phase! :) But thats it...definetely. Ahh..OK, New Order and The Cure and U2 (in their Zooropa and Achtung Baby period)...But thats it...finally!! Maybe I forgot a few...but I guarantee not more than 100..or maybe 200!

Isn't funny how for a band so simple in arrangements, yet complicated in ideas of the human spirit is the one that we still talk about almost 20 years after. My point is it's the ideas in their art that keep us all coming back ... happy but some how bittersweet. Agreed ?

It's the ideas ... not the presentation. It's something to think about as we push ourselves thinking on how to make better records.

Bong 13... that's "Strangelove", I think? [quick google check... yes it is! :)] I had a maxi single when I was a DJ. :) About 5 years ago, I gave as a birthday gift all my DM and 80s maxis and LPs to a younger friend who is an 80s and House DJ. He was so thrilled! I like making people happy. :)

Hey SineWave...alsways nice to hear we good music lovers are not alone! I still have all my Depeche stuff..hundreds of 12" in colored vinyl...Also all Smiths releases in vinyl. And all wierdo 80ies stuff too..My top piece are two copies of the legendary "Some Bizzarre Sampler" with DM Photographic and Soft Cells "The girl with the painted Leather face" on it! What a fantastic period in music history. HAve you ever watched the also fantastic BBC Documentary "Synth Britannia"...if not you definetely should do now!

Of course I've seen "Synth Britannia"! :) :) It's an absolute must for every synth fan. But great that you posted the link so maybe people who haven't seen it yet can watch it, too. ;)
