Patterns of Intuition: Musical Creativity in the Light of Algorithmic Composition screenshot
ISBN: 9401795606 | 2015 | 432 pages | EPUB: 7.1 MB | PDF: 13.78 MB
The present book is the result of a three year research project which investigated the creative act of composing by means of algorithmic composition. Central to the investigation are the compositional strategies of 12 composers, which were documented through a dialogic and cyclic process of modelling and evaluating musical materials. The aesthetic premises and compositional approaches configure a rich spectrum of diverse positions, which is reflected also in the kinds of approaches and methods used.

These approaches and methods include the generation and evaluation of chord sequences using genetic algorithms, the application of morphing strategies to research harmonic transformations, an automatic classification of personal preferences via machine learning, and an application of mathematical music theory to the analysis and resynthesis of musical material. The second part of the book features contributions by Sandeep Bhagwati, William Brooks, David Cope, Darla Crispin, Nicolas Donin, and Guerino Mazzola. These authors variously consider the project from different perspectives, offer independent approaches, or provide more general reflections from their respective research fields.

This is in phase with Einstein view and philosohies...most espacially

With his own intuition wich has now been confirm by all scientist

An algorithm is a finite sequence of well defined and unambiguous instructions, each of which must be performed mechanically or electronically.

Although sometimes we do not realize, we use algorithms in our day to day and we do not know.

But what's Algorithm? It is simply a "recipe" to execute a task or solve a problem.

Amazing book that few will be able to read the first few pages, though not like or might not have understood the title, because I realized over the years that most imcompetent people in music, clearly believe in intuition. Music has been developing mathematical concepts over centuries, so never developed musical theories, however, empirical concepts from the middle ages, we do not know anything from the ancient music of Egypt, Greece or China.

So, there will never be a day that we will need to prove the logic that 2 + 2 = 4, logic is not discussed, we can create formulars, patterns or find circular references, so is music. Then all the simple rules that have been done to music prove by it self.

If you notice, in the macro structure of the time, it just happened:
At first they used up a note, without realizing that 'OCTAVE' it was used as the female voice was more acute, is it because we use the word 'SOPRANO', which originates from the latin word 'SUPERIORIS', super in latin is something in the highs, eg: 'Superman', German language adopted the same word, Super.
Musicians, began the mathematical little rules using the 3rd and 5th, and when someone fled this rule, they called 'FICTITIOUS MUSIC' which is literally translating 'UNREAL MUSIC'.
