Review:
"I am very impressed with this text in regards to the way it addresses such significant topics as passing tones, neighbor tones, elaborations of pitch, chord displacement and surface rhythm, suspension preparation and resolution, implied harmony, bass-line harmonic participation, suspensions and anticipations and much, much else."

"Part V: Dissonance and Chromaticism… provides an excellent introduction both to general principles and concepts and to specific materials and techniques. The Points for Review following each chapter are very helpful…"

"Part II is… thorough, and detailed and very musical with lots of excellent musical examples."

Previous versions did not have audio, however today it is very easy to create PDFs with embedded audio, I did this during my undergraduate degree in 2007 if someone sends me the audio I will do it myself.
This book is studied at the best universities in the world. I have the original all scribbled on with colored pens, I'm proud of it. Honestly, listening to the audio recording will only satisfy your curiosity, as it will not help you understand the reading process that is involved in working with a treasure map.

For me, this book is the bible of melody - how it works, how to design a melody or the physics of the melody, it's a book that I will cherish until the end of my life. It may be challenging for some to begin understanding it, but it's worth the effort. Our lives can be transformed by this remarkable contribution.

If you want to learn how to improve your music, incorporate movement into your music and songs to break the monotony of the melody line, including the bass. This is THE BEST book.

It's regrettable that students often focus on the wrong studies, overlooking other important subjects.

Here's a sample of how this book with audio in the PDF will look like. Just 6.81 MB (I have to extract many audios from YouTube, so I don't know when I'll be able to finish, maybe for a new post.

Thank you for your effort! We can see the play button icon besides the examples but there is no audio file attached to it!

Great book been my library for a while but Hans has inspired me to read it & it does seem excellent so far. Have a basic understanding of the notation but converting the notes to sound isn't something i'm great at.

My own biggest hurdle in music is being able to analyze & understand my own music & why it sounds good to me & importantly where to take it next.
Appreciate any other good recommendations.

I forgot to ask is there any software that can read notation & play it or/and convert it to midi?

Musical analysis is what I do most — and love the most. I just listen, and I know exactly what's going on. Once, I did an analysis for our late friend Olymoon, who felt disheartened to find out that his favorite Miles Davis piece could be explained so easily — and it turned out to be something quite simple. Oly was the one I talked to the most here on audioz.

There are some notation OCR readers, but I've never given any of them an 8. This is an old attempt that improves 1% every year, but makes a lot of mistakes. Not even AI has understood this yet, but when it does, it will all be online. They are: _PhotoScore & NotateMe Ultimate (by Neuratron) >_MuseScore >_ScanScore >_SmartScore

I installed smartscore i didn't try it yet & will look at the other suggestions thanks.

I'm still reading the book, I forgot how little I understood harmony or maybe just going over it again you pick out more details.
I'm reading the section on transposing, i don't know if its because i grew up on House music & hip hop where sample are often transposed. But i also tend to hear it in jazz as well. I don't really know if doing that for the chord progression is really harmonic or just a bit unsophisticated.
