If you're looking for ways to level up your productions in Cubase, how about designing your own sounds? In this Cubase video tutorial series, expert Gary Hiebner will show you many different ways of getting crafty with Cubase's samplers and instruments to build your own unique instruments. From creating your own drum kit with Groove Agent to designing sustained synth sounds in Vocal Sample, you'll learn plenty of ideas, all of which can be used to help your productions stand out from the masses. These videos are designed for beginner to intermediate Cubase users.

Gary welcomes you to the course and begins by showing you how to create your own drum kit in Groove Agent by importing your own sounds, editing each one, and then sending each drum pad sound to its own output for individual processing. Then you'll see a similar process with the Drum Machine instrument, in which you can combine your samples with synthetic drum elements and processing each sound with the Pad FX.

Next, you'll explore the concept of found-sound samples, and Gary will show you how to record a sample, import it to the sampler, and edit/process it. You'll also see how to record multi-sample hits that we can assign to different velocity layers. Then Gary demonstrates how to import those samples into Groove Agent to process them further. Throughout the rest of the course, Gary will share other tips and ideas, such as editing/slicing samples to build an instrument (using the transient tool in Sampler), building a percussive pluck synth from a sample (by editing the start/end points in the sampler), creating a sustained synth instrument from a sample (using the loop modes and adjusting attack/release times), creating a sustained synth from Vocal Sample (with loop modes and additional processing), and using multiple pitched samples (with Groove Agent).

Designing your own sounds in Cubase is a lot of fun and a great way to get unique sounds, but there is a bit of a learning curve if you've not worked much with sampling in the past. That's where this course comes in! Gary will walk you through the process step by step, showing you a myriad of ways to design your own stellar, completely original sounds. See the individual Cubase video tutorial descriptions for more information on all that's covered and how you can implement the same ideas in your own workflow.
