idk anything about programming/coding but from what i've picked up in passing, i always thought that c++ was the way to go when it comes to audio/dsp/etc.
really trying to understand. is this old "advice"? is python just easier for a complete beginner to programming/dsp? is python actually very capable? are there reasons to learn python over c++ for audio?

When comparing C++ and Python, it becomes clear that they have distinct characteristics and applications. C++ is known for its complexity and extensive syntax rules and program conventions. On the other hand, Python shines as a friendly and easy-to-learn language with a simple syntax, allowing developers to write short and readable code. The advantages of using Python over C++ are particularly apparent in machine learning contexts, data analysis, and backend web development. Python's scripting capabilities make it an ideal choice for rapid prototyping, whereas C++ struggles due to the larger size of its code. Python's extensive standard library, which includes XML parsers and Excel interfaces, further enhances its utility. However, C++ offers its own set of advantages such as superior performance, making it a preferred choice for applications requiring faster execution, such as gaming platforms. C++ is also suitable for system programming, including developing operating systems, and it allows for low-level programming closer to hardware. Overall, while Python is popular for its simplicity, readability, and suitability for machine learning applications, C++ excels in areas like system programming and high-performance computing. Ultimately, the choice between the two depends on the specific requirements and goals of the project at hand.
