Description
Continuing at 'advanced' level guitar repair technician skills with Module 6, 'Replacing the Frets', we're going to replace all the frets on your guitar. This course is good for bass, electric, acoustic and classical - and you can also use these skills and concepts for other fretted instruments i.e. banjo. As always, I'll explain the specialist trade tools for these skills. I'll also show you how to recognize when full fret replacement is preferable or necessary, the size of fret to use and how to completely remove the frets and replace with freshly cut new frets. I'll show you why and how to bend those frets if necessary, and will reference bringing your guitar back to a state of playability.Because of the high cost of replacing frets on the whole fretboard, it makes sense for you to be able to do this job yourself. This is another one of those jobs that the general guitar-playing public would have little to no idea or inclination to tackle. It really is a specialist job worth knowing. If you haven't already done so, I highly recommend that you sign up to Module 2, 'Setups' because your guitar will need setting up fully after this fret replacement job. You also will need to stone and re-profile the frets afterwards (Module 5). Complete the quizzes, download the resources and checklists, make notes, watch the videos and don't forget to ask questions if needed. I advise you to practice on a cheap guitar first. See you in the course.Kevin
