Description
Reading written music doesn’t need to be a frustrating or overwhelming process. Although it seems like a secret language, or code, there are patterns to help understand it. You can understand how these patterns exist, and how to use a few ‘cheater notes’ to read the lines and dots on the page. This course will cover how to read notes on the treble and bass clefs, which the majority of instruments use. You will learn how to find a few recognizable notes as guide notes, or ‘cheater notes’. Then move up or down from those notes to discern the other notes.Worksheets, with answers, are provided to practice naming notes. This course will not show you where the various notes are on your instrument (piano, violin, etc.) but is intended for any musician, or beginning musician, to discern the written notes on the page. This course also only covers the notes on the treble and bass clefs, and not the rhythm (how long you hold a note). There is value in being able to separate and understand pitch from rhythm, and how that relates to your personal instrument. At the end of this course, you will have the skills needed to read any note on the grand staff!
