I thought it was alicia Keys feat Jay-Z?? Hence why she has 2 versions on her latest album, one with him ruining the song by rapping, and one without him rapping.

Nope. Jay's version is the main version.

The Jay-Z version of the song has 2 main samples... "Love on a Two-Way Street" by The Moments... That's the piano during the verses and choruses... And the drum break, which is Isaac Hayes's "Breakthrough"

Jay got the track first then got Alicia for the hook. The hook was already written by the way...

I do like some of his stuff but I think on that particular tune the version without rapping is better, the rapping doesn't work for me but at least there's 2 versions so people have the best of both worlds. Interesting info antididdy.
