Quick question, as I've read, of course EastWest has a new player that is Opus etc..
Is this library part of the "Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition"

I don't know the East West ecosystem, so a quick question about this. Do you need everything from them to do a possible upgrade to Opus, or can you upgrade specific libraries like this one to Opus? Basically, do you have to download every single EW library if you want to do the upgrade at some point?

The Opus is simply EW's new sampler. It's compatible with all their libraries, but it's by no means required just to have it. The Hollywood Orchestra "Opus Edition" is the legacy Hollywood Orchestra + new content, Opus Sampler and Opus Orchestrator.

To use "Hollywood Orchestra Opus Edition", you'd have to download these old libraries. The Opus stuff (bug fixes, new string/brass/woodwind sections, etc) is meant to add onto it, not replace it.

Thank you! I suspected as much. My question was rather. Do I need all of the EW legacy content to use Opus in any way, or could I get the Opus upgrade if I only had specific libaries, like the strings for example?

Mmhmm. As before, Opus is simply the sampler and nothing more. You can use it with all the libraries or none of them. If you only have the Strings library and that's it, then you can use them with Opus without any restriction.

The "Opus Edition" is a bit of a misnomer because it implies more than what it actually is. It's just the Hollywood Orchestra + additional content w/ the Opus Sampler and Orchestrator. To 'use' it, you'd have to have the original Hollywood Orchestra installed since the new stuff adds to it and doesn't replace it. Nothing of the sort applies to any of EW's other releases and can immediately be usable with the Opus Sampler whether you have one library or all of them :).

Just when I think these can't get any bigger a new one comes out that's not what I was expecting. Surely this is the biggest library available? Is there going to be a 1 TB size library? Are all the samples at 24/96khz I'm assuming? Holy shit, it's a good thing there are 18 TB hard drives available.

keep getting crc errors with kat downloads. Downloaded the entire thing twice lol. Oh well. I'm sure there is a way to repair the archive but i will just wait till its on rt

Hey all,

First off, somehow my initial post isn't showing up, so if this is a repeat, please forgive.

Thanks so much to all involved. I dl'd this beast and am excited to use it. But upon extraction (the first extraction into the 2g rar units) I get This error. "packed data checksum error in...dcb-4836-r33" and a similar error for r.71

Would love to know how to fix without having to re-dl the entirety of the beast.
