Seems like they really crapped this out in a hurry -- no user's manual (yet), no standalone and the demos just make it sound like a bunch of EDM shit that fifty other VIs can do. I was a considering demo-ing this, but I think I'll just stick with the O.G. Massive.

Yeah, that's weird, right? It's like when they release a video game because the release date's up and they have about a year of updates to go before they get it where it should have been on Day One. Kind of unusual for NI.

Not to mention that it has even more aliasing than original Massive.

Saying "we don't want this compared to the original massive" is just a poor excuse from N.I. to really make a true follow up to Massive which can compete with synths like Serum.

I totally agree with you, but it does make sense from their perspective: maintaining one product to upgrade over time (hopefully) while a new product is out for sale. Creates much more of a market for them that updating an older product. Bums us, but it's logical. Besides, we try before we buy, which is just as well because this is not a finished product.

That was fast on the scene, thanks for the share. Might want to wait for a rev version before anything. But on another note, this looks to be a trend right now for most releases from NI:

MASSIVE X does not currently run in standalone mode.


This or using the latest CPUs to run some of the newest Kontakt libraries they had release earlier. Something to think about...

How long did you use it? And what happened after the message popped up? No sound? Plugin not opening anymore?
The original demo seems to be restricted to 30min but that must have been patched here.
I've used the V.R. release for about 2 hours now and haven't experienced a bomb so far

there's no clear reason why NI couldn't code a version for those without AVX.
forcing people to upgrade or forget about it is rubbish....
i guess they have enough customers not to worry about it though...

I have AVX ... on a MBP from 2011. It's not exactly recent technology. Still, it's probably the first time I've ever seen "AVX-compatible" as a requirement. Like I said above, I think this was a total rush job and they decided to crap it out rather than tweak it before the release deadline.

Massive X is not showing up in YOUR Studio One. It certainly is showing on my Studio One 4.5.1 and Windows 7 and Windows 10
make sure that it is being scanned. And make sure you have a compatible CPU.

Exactly pirate i had the CPU compatible issue..when i tried over my laptop...
even after the installation it won't show on Vst list/ but it came working once i installed on my Work station
