A witch says,

* You need the installation of R2R-WAIFU v1.8 or above.
* No CodeMeter installation is required.
* AxProtector is unpacked. It loads faster, uses less memory, no DRM compatibility issue with 3rd party plugins from its anti-debug, resource protection.
* Our WAIFU supports 3 extra licenses for the real pro extensions. You can do professional pirate radio.
* Protein is emulated like our previous MAGIX releases.

The first King Kong finally came! Sequoia 16 is the last version that supports 32bit version and Win7. This is the version you should keep in your hard drive for a long time!

The full installer included in this releae is modified to avoid CodeMeter installation.

From clicking the exe to loading a sample project takes literally 3.5 seconds from start to finish. This thing is UNBELIEVABLY FAST. Bravo.

Thanks R2R! I'm sure this spells other great things to come!

I'm not too familiar with this DAW. I just downloaded it and tried it now. Everything seems to be working. I'm not sure I see the advantage of this one over something like Reaper. Is there something particularly special about Sequoia (higher quality rendering, easier on CPU, etc?) or is it just the DAW of choice for those who are used to it? I'm just curious. I'm always willing to learn a new DAW, but the learning curves can be steep. It's not always worth the challenge. I'm open to being talked into a further dig.

you can't do some of the skills in sequai with reaper, for example MUSYC editing
sequoia is the best of the best, if they released a mac osx silicon version, there would be no other DAW left.

I would like to try this beast! Does it support some musical notation feature?
Is this Sequoia version lighter or heavier than MAGIX Samplitude Pro X8 Suite 19.xxxxxxx (x64) Multilingual? Ask 'cos Samplitude Pro X8 has a huge list of requirements and I don't even know if my PC can run it...

MAGIX Samplitude Pro X8 requirements:

❝Intel 6th generation Core i-series or higher
AMD Ryzen or higher RAM
Intel Graphics HD 620 or higher with 4 GB
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1050ti or higher with 4 GB
AMD Radeon RX470 or higher with 4 GB❞

For me has the best music editor ever, but in general goes far, far away than any other daw. Anyway, I'm so out of time that I'll keep using Reaper which I consideer the 2º best current daw, have no time for the deep dive in that Sequoia deserve & demand, at the beggining at least.

The 6th gen is a decade old,
a 1050ti is like a century old.

Time for an upgrade buddy :)

My setup:

Gigabyte 970A-DS3P rev 2.0
Amd Fx-8320 Eight-Core
32768 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 610 2GB

So, from what I understand, I can run MAGIX Sequoia 16 but, on the other hand, Samplitude Pro X8 Suite would present some problems on my current setup?

This depends on the size of your projects and how many live effects you want to use. Sequoia (and Samplitude) are actually quite frugal. I use the latest version of Nuendo 13 on a laptop with only 8 gigabytes of RAM to mix large Dolby Atmos projects. It works like a charm. And Sequoia has always used less memory than Nuendo. (At least that was the case with Sequoia 15.)

...

. Yes, Sequoia has music notation capabilities.

. Sequoia is more complete than Samplitude. I don't know if you're acquainted with Steinberg's DAWs but you could compare Samplitude to Cubase and Sequoia to Nuendo.
Check for the main differences on Magix's website but, since you can get Sequoia for free thanks to R2R, why go with Samplitude?

. Samplitude's requirements are just meant to keep Magix out of trouble with users who have unattended and messy computers and then spend day after day basbhing Magix online or calling their customer support because they can't play GTA while recording techno.
I have been using Sequoia 15 with a Core2Quad CPU in a 2009 ASUS P5Q deluxe, with a MOTU24i/O interface for years!
I can record 24 simultaenous tracks at 96KHz/32 bit without hiccups so... if your computer is clean and tidy and everything is in it's place, properly installed and set, there's no reason why Sequoia 16 or Samplitude X8 won't work in your system.

Have fun! Sequoia is a fantastic DAW but in the end, it's your personal preferences that will dictate the best DAW for you.
In theory, theory and practice are the same.
In practice, they're not.

Wow huge! This is awesome. I wonder if v17 is around the corner? If v17 gets released i will switch to that as my primary mastering DAW. Been using Studio One for the past 4 yrs or so

Disappointing version full of bugs and stability issues.
I won't even mention that after so many years, you cannot even rename FX slots or have a Performance monitor or even select two different sidechain sources for two different VSTs in the same channel.

Agridder is going nuts on this. I gave it a chance just for the nostalgia but i got reminded why i left in first place. I lost a whole day trying to port a project and it's full of freezes and crashing my whole rig.

Reaper is everything Sequoia should have been. Go with it.

Guys, the comments section is full of nostalgics asking R2R to crack buggy 32-bit dinosaurs from 2001. We are in 2024 folks, can we kindly talk about how this DAW works? Stability? Compatibility with plugins? Any problems of various kinds encountered?
Thanks R2R for this masterpiece, even if few will decide to open it and give it a try, for me it is one of your best releases ever. Thanks a lot, as always!

Well, for me it crashes during the VST and VST3 scan. I’ve tried twice on two different systems that have different plugins installed, and both times the same thing. It posts some kind of error message and then crashes. I might try again later, but for now I won’t let Perfect stand in the way of Good, and just go back to getting some work done on my workhorse Reaper. It’s not a diss on this DAW - I’m sure it’s great from the comments I’ve read here - I just don’t have time to sort out issues on a new DAW that fails on the most fundamental first task for me - VST scanning.

Update: I checked again and most of the VSTs had loaded in, despite the crash. But when I checked my Nebula libraries and VSTs, a lot of them didn’t work. I’m going to have to pass on this one. Nonetheless, many thanks to R2R for the great work. Those waiting for these releases are very happy and that makes me feel good that some of their wishes have been answered. That’s what the community is all about.

Thanks for the feedback. Personally it's the complete opposite. No crashes so far in the scan, and no crash whatsoever, and everything seems very stable at the moment. Windows 11 latest, everything great both R2R plugins and legit iLoks, UAD Spark, All Sonnox and McDSP latest.

I fully accept the possibility that my system is maxed out to the requirements. It’s Windows 11 AMD Ryzen 5, 32 RAM and running dangerously low on space in my C drive. So that might be an issue. That said, that’s why Reaper is a good choice for me. Just chugs along.

I understand, Reaper is such a good DAW, super customizable and light. Here on Sequoia, R2R seems to have done an amazing job. Super grateful.

Which version of Samplitude does this v16 of Sequoia (is it based on) compare to: X5, X6 or X7?
  Resident 15.11.2019 178
+28
Sequoia v16.8.0 has a release date of 13 July 2023, at which time Samplitude X8 v19.0.1.23115 was the latest version. The readme files contain some identical bugfix entries for Sequoia and Samplitude. This proves that they are not time-delayed. Only the functionality is different.

Version 17 was released by Magix at the end of 2023. So it's not completely new. (Version 17.1.1 is from 21 August 2024.) And when you wrote your post, R2R's Sequoia 17 had already been online here in the forum for almost two hours.

Have fun with Sequoia 17!
