Acustica Audio Ash Ultra 2023-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 22 Nov 2023 | 81.3MB
Ash Ultra, the cool latest addition to the ever-evolving ASH plugin suite, available in VST, VST3, AAX, and AU formats.
This new plugin represents the cutting-edge in clipping. It is based on the new 'Aria' engine, which supports real-time metering displays and introduces new significant features. It is designed to be user-friendly and delivers exceptional results – truly a godsend.

The interface has been completely redesigned to provide a simplified user experience, making it easy to achieve control and calibration of plugin parameters with extreme precision and speed. Ash Ultra is now available as a separate install in Aquarius, and the best part? It's available for free to all Ash owners! We believe in rewarding your loyalty by offering this incredible plugin at no extra cost.

Key Features
Hyper 3 technology.
New β€œAnti-Aliasing” algorithm that significantly reduces the plugin’s aliasing issues.
New High-quality dithering algorithm with 8 different modes.
5 dithering bit depths modes.
New High-Quality Clipping Algorithm, Even More Efficient.
Improved sampled clipping curves thanks to a new smoothing process.
New β€˜Aria’ engine supporting the new dynamic / real-time metering displays.
Advanced Metering System with Real-Time Waveform Display: A new visual interface

that includes RMS Input-Output meters and GR meters, designed to swiftly identify peaks and extreme values in the audio signal. This feature allows you to keep a constant eye on the attenuation curve and the amount of plugin distortion /clipping. This is a significant addition, particularly beneficial for mixing and mastering, as it provides real-time insight into how your audio is performing and whether there are any obvious issues, such as excessive distortion.
The Knee display is used to show the compression static curve.
Visual Control and Precise Calibration: Ash Ultra fits into a landscape of plugins that emphasize strong graphical components, offering the primary advantage of
providing a highly detailed view of audio information. This is particularly valuable for audio engineers a highly detailed view of audio information. This is particularly valuable for audio engineers seeking to finely adjust parameters with utmost precision, allowing for exact calibration of the available controls. For instance, when working on saturation in great detail, a detailed visualization is extremely useful. Furthermore, it proves beneficial when there is a need to adhere to specific technical adjustments or audio production standards.
Instant Feedback: Enhanced instant response of the controls, capable of providing immediate feedback on the impact of your adjustments, enabling you to make real time changes to the signal to achieve the desired sound quickly.
Easy to use and cool looking interface.
High quality oversampling, up to 1024x (the highest and best on the market) with perfect phase response.
Hard and Soft knee functions with very low aliasing.
True peak mode to prevent inter-sample peaks.
25 sampled, custom and super linear analog clipping modes available derived from ASH.

A witch says,

Library is completely decrypted, decompressed, DRM related bloat removed, and built to the clean one.

According to the developer, the library of Ash Ultra is super optimized from Ash and bloating is solved. But you can see that R2R library is still 50% less from the legit version. The loading time is also better in R2R release, because there are no RC4 decryption, no GoogleSnappy decompression, no Virtual DLL loading, no NTDLL.dll scan, no RSA license decryption, no MultiLayered decryption by SCORPION.

unlike the Ash that has about 6-7% CPU load, this one is crazy (56% cpu) [empty Ableton Project for testing]
this one is unusable, the regular Ash is more than enough and it sounds very good
thx R2R a

Yeah the CPU load is crazy, and that's without any oversampling. Tried to click on x1024 for the fun of it, instantly crashed my DAW lmao

I have an i7 12th gen. I agree not worth the cpu usage it's ridiculous. maybe giancarlos big plan? release buggy unoptimized plugins, then wait for them to get cracked, then say "see! you need updates!" what a clown that guy is

Same here on Ableton 11, takes about 30-35% on my Ryzen 3700X.
Can't add this one to an already finished Session because of the consumption. My Gold Clip is about 5-8%.

interesting. i have legit version of both. And ultra takes less CPU for me. Im on a mac though.
Also, the Ultra version introduced "anti-aliasing" oversampling. Its a newer algo that sounds REALLY good when pushed really hard. you can easily remove 5, even up to 10 db with minimal artifact.

Ableton is not suited for mixing or doing bigger projects with other plugins than stock ones if you donΒ΄t have a very strong computer. Reaper is win for that.

what to do with the !COMMON folder?
where to place it?
  Member 14.12.2020 1 237

The files inside the !COMMON folder to be copied inside the VST3 folder /VST2 /AAX
  Member 12.12.2018 4

thanks files inside "!COMMON" folder need to be copied directly in the vst folder and not the folder.

it worked!

I found this one a ultra hog for what it really delivers. Normal Ash already sampled the Lavry Gold, so i don't know if i want all this extra stuff cluttering my window, just for dithering and truncation. Following the HWMC concept and signal flow, Ash probably works like a DAC and this like an ADC (at the very beginning and at the very last slot of the chain) because of those finalizing features like a true peak ceiling, dither, etc, if it makes sense. But I'm probably better with StandardClip and it's built in saturator than any of those for getting proper loudness. And Kazrog KClip for a more HiFi finalizer

agreed, other tools do the same job with less bloat, unresponsiveness and cpu usage

they both behave the same way, the only difference is visual metering in Ultra, added dithering, and mind boggling AA oversampling. AA stands for "anti-aliasing", and is not available in normal ash. Its the best sounding oversampling i have ever heard. The true peak limiter is in both versions of ash.

As someone who has extensively tested this against Standardclip, Klcip, Gold Clip etc. I can say that this is the best sounding clipper on the market. Much more transparent and loud than its competitors. Try SLAMMING it, go 15 / 20 db clipped. cycle through the different models until you find one that fits the song, then compare with gold clip etc doing the same amount of gain reduction. The difference speaks for itself.

I bought this one, and would gladly buy it again. Im glad that other users are getting to experience Acustica's "secret weapons" and hope it leads to them eventually buying and supporting the company, and that Acustica changes their ways in the bloat etc brought forward by r2r.

bro you need to install the acustica framework first.
this video shows everything but you don't need to listen nothing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n2pxml86C0

On a very recent post concerning the "ash ultra flat" update, among certain developers the threat and the dictatorship are well underway, it's funny to read so much contradiction coming from the same person recently, it reminds me of Usopp from one piece he tells stories longer than his nose to bring his crew together.

One thing is certain, he likes to butter his toast until there is more butter than bread, a bit like these protective layers..

i installed it tested and for real for the quality of the sound even only using AA at 8x is worth to have in the arsenal. I have a old ass laptop i5 2.5ghz cpu that gets to 59% using AA 8x on FL 21. I pushed it to the 5 with no artifacts. interface is big but i only care about the sound. Going to test the (crazy +2gb) classic ASH too. Anybody with a cpu that can hold up 32x AA def should give it a try, 808s and keys sounds DOPE. AHH not to mention that using the R2R folder and the Intel API those are the fastest loading plugins BY FAR.

This has a more warm or saturated sound to it then normal Ash and also use more CPU. normal ASH also sounds more analog so it really comes down to what you prefer I much prefer normal ASH because i like the analog sound of it more and it uses less CPU
