Besides inflation, I believe that so many professional musicians becoming unemployed by force (with no end in sight) has created a market where only top producers are willing to put more money into this craft. Live performance is a big part of why people want to be musicians, and that's gone now, so newbies are less interested in blowing money on plugins. Plugin companies are raising their prices to adjust to their changing customer base, which is smaller but richer.

Still. Acustica Sand costs 199 eur, you can get it for 60 eur on sales and it has preamps, equalizers, channel strip and the compressor and it sounds just as good as SSL`s own plugins, if not a bit better.
