I agree. couldn't say it better. it brings up everything that you don't know was there. This is like the best at what it does compares to others out there, but not every mix need it. Im surprised with the level of precision it has. Maybe need to learn more and get better at knowing where to use it now that we have access to these state-of-the-art tools.

Im patiently waiting for the chand, ttech MKII, those 9K, API Class A (Lindell gonna release their new one on 12th!), API stuff just so good. i want it all. can't thank R2R enough.

iZotope plugins are more multifunctional, i.e. besides EQ and compressor/limiter iZotope bundle includes tape saturation, vintage comp/eq, imager, exciter, spectral shaper, multiband compressor and some other stuff.

Waves has dozens of plugins and instruments.

I think if you don't clearly know why you need Weiss plugins for then don't bother and use iZotope, Waves and other stuff.

1 day fiddling with it, I can say Weiss plugins are bunch of precision tools for the experienced. It has a steep learning curve that can easily backfire if you don't know enough, or your ability (listening and decision making) is not there yet. Izotope basically doing all that for us automatically with 70% (or so, not fact, just raw assumption) accuracy and make it easier for the user. It has its limitation with hidden controls and setting that aren't accessible. Plus Izotope have more tools that Weiss dont. Those are cool stuff atleast i think so, the imager, exciter and the low end management are state-of-the-art tools.

I can't say anything about Waves, rarely use them for finishing purpose (mastering) but that L2 is more than capable.

Don't over-think it, just use it.. it's awesome. PUsh it pull it try it... you'll soon get it - it's not THAT complex or mysterious.

Basically get some full band compression going (get threshold light just hitting now and then) stick to 2-3db of GR for the comp... M/S mode is good but ignore that for now if you're learning.

Then if your mix was well gainstaged (master seperately with this btw NOT in your mix project you want a GREAT mix first...) it'll hit the limiter 'automatically' and give you around 1-2 db GR on the limiter .. max... if not use the limiter input up/down until it does... adjust compression if you now have more/less...

put safe limiter on, parallel comp on (sounds best), don't use auto gain... now with limiter and compressor doing the above values of GR... you should sound good... then hit another limiter after this like L2 doing nothing but setting the output (-0.5 or w/e you use) to enhance.. you can turn off the DS1 limiter and just use L2 but then also use the GAIN out knob on DS1 to drop the vol to avoid clipping/red lights... it's flexible but once you find your settings you'll just 'get' it. And it's worth it. It sounds great and works great. Use with EQ1 before it to get any resonances out or to enhance (use to instances one in M/S mode for better control of EQ and cut lows on the sides etc).

Also use the DEESS plug in to de-harsh the mix up top (before these plugs). Weiss rocks!
