This worked for me, thank you !!! I just strum a chord and click to activate the effect block. I'm enjoying this update so much.

It’s not ideal, and if your mouse slips away you are in trouble, but at least it’s one way to do it!

Line 6 still has not fixed the issue of Drive 0 for license authorization that started in version 1.92 when they changed to the PurchasesV2.dat authorization structure
if you have Microsd cards or external usb storage
if you having a issue where helix will not launch and bombs the Daw
eject your Micorosd card or usb storage then launch your Daw and Helix then turn it back on or insert the sd card and your fine. once your Daw and helix are operational your fine unfortunately you will need to do this every time in your initial startup to use helix

Line 6 still has not fixed the AD-DA dry in latency even on the helix. Seems like even this latency is on the Axe FX II units as well.
Here is how to test how they rip you off

At any guitar store that has these units for demo

1.Have the units plugged into a power amp and into a 2X10 or 4X12 Cab
2. Use a headphone out from the units with a long cord
2.Now disable all the effects blocks on the unit, including all EQ, Noise gate etc.
This is to test the AD-AD timing.
3. No stand with the guitar about 10 feet out from the 4X12 cabs
Put the earphones on
Now you will see how they hide the AD-DA timing, by forcing you to change your playing timing by blinding you with wet FX.

The Earphone signal and the Cabinet sound will be off by a mile lol
You will see the hype and BS of these units, they can not be used live unless you wet the hell out of the signal and only play slow chords or slow runs on these units.

I am still on a 1997 Digitech 2112 Tube Preamp processor for this reason. I can actually have FX I can do hammer on and hammer off's without pulling my hair out, or play fast chords without having to change my timing.

The worse unit I tested was the POD HD 500, even my Edirol F101 Firewire interface from 2005!!!!! is a hell lot faster on the AD-DA than the POD HD500 on in/out tests.

Be aware these guys are fooling people with these units, since most use headphones they don't have to worry about the AD-DA timings. The problem is when these delayed signals have to be put through a power amp and into cabinets that is when you start to see the hype was just hype. This is why it is recommended to go to LINE OUT direct and avoid Cabinets with these units. They really want you to believe they modeled a real Cabinet inside the unit, but they don't compensate for that on the AD-DA stage of the unit.
No these units do not have 1 ms AD-DA, the older pre 2000 FX units did have a true 1 ms delay and ran at 48 bit like the older digitech and boss units.

I still can't do the sound morphings and real time dynamic modifiers even on an Axe FX II, like I do on the Digitech 2112, this is embarrassing.

example Rt1 modifier : play soft= chorus and delay
play harder ( higher attack) = tube distortion, delay, phaser

That is in real time there is no delay whatsoever, it is incredible to play soft and hear it change in real time since this happens on the patch program itself, it does not require 2 separate programs to do this!!!
So on the helix you would need 2 programs even if the unit allowed to switch programs based on input signal changes.

Example #2 you control a delay feedback % based on your attack in order to do what the TC2290 does with the attack control. Or control the delay time itself based on your input signal parameters you set for the attack, release, hold settings.

Digitech should release the 2120 unit with the same 2 tubes and with some modern features and make a mockery of all these pathetic fx units.

My 2 cents on being in 2020 and having to use 1997 hardware with blows away the sound of any of these new fx units.

Tubes in an FX unit was the ultimate FX processor and sadly it died after the 2020 units.

LOL still tons of PRO players use them live
Metallica, Petrucci,Steve Morse, Bumblefoot, I.A Eklund, Vai, Govan, Periphery, Opeth, Edge etc etc to name just a few.
I guess all those pros that tour around the world with their Helix,es and AXE FX and Kemper has been so fooled

But still they want to use them and not Digitech or Boss very very strange indeed.

I have my hooked up so i can use headphones and it is also hooked up to my amp (wet dry wet rig) and to my audiointerface which is hooked up to my studio monitors and i havent had those AD/DA problem you talk about.

Both Vai and Petrucci did use TC2290 and now they prefer AXE FX i guess they must be stupid right??
As for gapeless switching or morphing
Helix has snapshot (gapless switching and spillover) and now with FW 3.0 it also has preset spillover like Digitech 2112 (they did the Digitech method and let the user decide if they will not be able to have more than 16 block instead of 32 block) so now you can switch presets and the delay reverb etc will spillover withg snapshot you had 8 snapshot in every preset and you can turn of/on blocks you can change settings in blocks and the delay and reverb will trail over if it is turned off.
AXE has a thing they call scenes very similar to snapshots but it even let you switch amps and effect with no "gap" helix snapshots cant do that

Both Helix and Axe and Kemper sell tons of units and many many pros use them ever wonder why????

I have used the Helix live since maybe 2 months after release, twice a month at least, straight out into PA, and never had to change my playing due to any lag, maybe I’m not sensitive enough to notice, but that’s with another guitarist and backing tracks. And as Guitarmaniac says, these units are proven with professionals and semi-pros using them the world over.

I haven't noticed any need to modify my playing to accommodate any lag (latency) with this or other Amp/Effect VSTs, but I'm not discounting that someone else might have issues with what they are trying to do.

Think he is actually referring to the hardware units themselves and not just the plug-in versions.

Well said, playing guitar over 40 years, if I set my Interface at 64 samples I don´t notice any latency with native !

Wow! I wasn't expecting them to releaser it this year itself! Can't wait to try it!

For those commenting on the Digitech 2112/2120 yes the sound morphings based on the input signal CAN NOT BE DONE with any of the current FX units period end of story.

In my simple ( this is baby stuff on the Digitech 2212/2020 units)

This is in real time using 2 RT modifiers ( up to 16 modifiers can apply to all the parts of the program patch ( tube, fx, distortions etc)

My Soft guitar sound patch ( Spanish guitar type switching to electric)

Rt1 modifier : play soft= chorus and delay
RT2 modifier controls the tube distortion, delay, phaser sections

Basically it is a classical soft guitar type sound that switches to a normal rock guitar in real time all with a simple slow attack on the strings or heavier attack ( input level based on input, release, hold settings)

NO this can not be done even on the AXE FX 2

The older Tube preamp / FX units had hundreds of settings to play with and this is what lead to their doom, too complicated for the "Green day one barr chord banger's"

The sound and fx is older but more analog sounding not digital.
The Digitech 2112/2020 have 2 Tubes in the preamp section of this rack mounted FX unit.

It was a beast back then with a big instructional book. The book even had the Sysex commands included for every section of the unit!!!

I can send a patch to the unit via midi using Reaper and a backup or a new Sysex patch program. Very advanced for it's time.

The tubes in these units is the reason why people are still looking to bag them.

Why wouldn't the new FX units not have actual tubes in the preamp section? IT IS EMULATED that is why. The Digitech 2112 has real tubes inside the unit.

Just in case anyone is wondering: The R2R keygen for v1.92 works for v3.0 as well!
You can get the installer from Line 6's website from the Download section and then run the R2R keygen.
