Team V.R | 19 August 2019 | 841 MB
Our highly anticipated launch is finally here! We have spent many thousands of hours rebuilding and redesigning every nook and cranny of ANA to create a beautifully elegant and powerful synth. One that is super simple to use but with an extensive toolset to allow you to create complex and exciting sounds.

Over 3 YEARS in the making, our baby is finally ready and we can't wait for you all to try it out.

So Fresh & So Clean

We have completely redesigned the interface, with a brand new HD Retina ready GUI with both classic white and a new black skin to choose from.

With all of the new features we have crammed into ANA 2 it was a challenge to present it all on screen without it getting cluttered, we have managed to accomplish this simple and familiar layout that made ANA 1 so famous, whilst also giving you the full flexibility of what ANA 2 has to offer

Morph your sound with 3D Wavetables

With our 3D Oscillator, expansive complex sounds is just a knob turn away.

Combine up to 3 wavetable oscillators with our other sound sculpting features, and you will understand just how beautifully complex sounds can become in ANA 2. Click on the waveform to open the waveform browser panel and populate all three oscillators with only a few clicks, then assign your G-ENV to the morph knob to create evolving pads, dirty wubs or epic atmospheres.

+ Import your own Wavetables

We will let you into a little secret; you can import your own custom wavetables into ANA 2, it even reads wavetables created in Serum!

Big Screen Graphical Envelopes

Want to make the ultimate envelope for that perfect sound, well how about doing it in big screen awesomeness. ANA 2 has three graphical envelopes or "G-ENVs". Each with virtually unlimited nodes to create your own shapes, quickly and easily.

The new G-Env includes custom grid sizing, snapping, a step mode and new curved lines giving you total control over modulation shapes with ease.

Import your own samples

You can now import your own custom samples into one of the 3 sampler Oscillators in ANA 2, or choose from the included library of sounds to make your presets standout.

Just Drag and drop files from your DAW or file system then modify your samples into something entirely new and unique with looping, crossfade, pitch and reverse.

24 Built-In FX Units

ANA 2 comes with 24 built-in world-class effects that can be used in 5 insert slots, or in the two send and return slots.

Each effect has full control over input, output and dry/wet - as well as every effect parameter being available as a modulation destination or macro control to get some insane effects going with the turn of one knob. You are only limited by your imagination.

Drag & Drop FX Reordering

The 5 insert slots can be re-ordered by simply grabbing and moving the tabs, to quickly check out different effect combos.

Polyphonic Step Arpeggiator

The advanced 64 note polyphonic step arpeggiator in ANA 2 breaks new ground for a built-in synth arp. Helping you create beautiful and inspiring arpeggios in an elegant and beautiful work area.

We believe, with its array of controls, and massive 64 steps, you can creating mind-blowing arps right from the get-go. Reorder notes, add swing and gates or just open one of the factory presets to get started straight away.

The 64 note step sequencer not only controls velocity but has two 'modulation’ sources which can be assigned to any modulation destination.

Instant Chord Progressions with CMD

This is where ANA 2 goes epic! Assign any chord to any key to create world-class chord progressions.

Work CMD and ANA 2's arp together, for an incredibly powerful tool creating complex chords progression, insane arps with beautiful chord changes or the darkest of techno stabs with huge six note extended chords from the preset list.

We think there is nothing out there in a synth to match the CMD / Arp combo and the world of possibilities it brings to the producer.

Modulation Matrix

Working fast is essential in today studio environment, and with ANA 2's mod matrix you can see, edit and control multiple modulations at a glance.

Nearly every parameter on ANA 2 can be used as a target using one or all of the many sources. These can quickly be assigned, set up and controlled using right click assignments or via the mod matrix panel.

Macro Controls

The modulation in ANA 2 is comprehensive and will become an extremely powerful tool when designing sounds.

It is further enhanced when used in combination with the macro controls. Here you can assign several modulation targets to one knob, available on the front panel or assigned to a controller. Add custom names to the controls for that personal touch.

Over 500 Presets Included

Bundled with ANA 2 are hundreds of presets to get you started.

ANA 2comes bundled with over 500 unique presets to get you going right out of the box.

With a super easy to use preset browser, you can find the preset you want quicker. You can filter by categories and genre type or even create your own custom tags for presets.

46 High Quality Filters

The key to great sounding productions is a great sounding synth and the key to a great sounding synth is great sounding filters.

We have 46 filter types in ANA 2, from classic ANA 1 filters to exhaustive emulations of some of the synths worlds most iconic filters. We are really proud of ANA 2s filters.

Yeah I was joking. Just weird not to see Sonic Academy involved anymore You can't even get the newer version on their site

Say what! Oh cool, thx. last time I checked it was still the older version. I'm going to have to re-check! EDIT: Awesome they are still developing ANA2. I was worried for a second there!

Speaking of newer versions, I just noticed this version still says v2.0.81. Weird. Maybe they updated it but didn't change the version number? It's kinda hard to believe. It's a really nice synth. Easy to use, no fuss. Sounds nice, and no CPU spikes.

It seems there are still some obvious bugs, like modulation wheel goes only all the way up or down. Makes me wonder about other, far more important bugs... Could this be a repackaged v2.0.81 with additional Slate presets I wonder?

Interesting. I downloaded it again from the mirror link and the version is now 2.0.92. :) Thank you!

It is definitely less buggy than 2.0.81. Feels more polished. Lovely synth. I really like the sample import option. Because I have so many nice custom samples on my hd. To be able to combine them is really nice.

Considering buying a copy. It does sound good (to me, I know some will disagree). Still trying to figure out how best to use the samplers. I kind of get what to do for each individual samplers, and how to mix or turn off the osc, but I just can't get how to play with settings to get cool fades/merges between the 3 samplers. Are they just three layers of samples or can something more creative be done with them?

You can fade in and out of the separate sampler oscillators through the modulation matrix combined with velocity or the mod wheel among other controllers. You can also use the loop start/end/x-fade and high-pass/filter mix settings on the sampler oscillator to do a lot of cool tricks, and even do some fade in/outs using those settings combined with the G-Env. There is a lot to this synth, and it takes a bit of time to master. I own it, and haven't regretted buying it at all! In fact the very reason I got it was because you can import your own single cycle/wavetable/samples to create something real unique.

Thank you for that. I don't understand it all but I'm going to print it out and stick it on my wall.

Yes, this synth seems a bit underrated. It seems really versatile though. Its a shame there isn't more training material out there. Sonic's own stuff is really limited. There are a couple of sound design tuts with Ana but only passing reference to the samplers osc.

I'll play with it a bit more to see if I can get the hand of it and buy a copy if I do.

great synth and lot of tutorial on youtube to learn it. and the chord option is a very cool option to find quickly an idea

Hi Loptovo,

Do you mean the Chord Memory Device (chord assignments to single keys)? I can see how this could be useful in performance or to simplify MIDI chord progressions, but not as an idea generating tool (mind you, I don't use even dedicated idea generating tools like Scaler, so what do I know...°
  Member 21.08.2019 12

start little bit to use scaler and machine with the scale and chord but before chord memory was easy when you aren't a keyboard player (like me), to find a good chord progression, and the strum option.

OK, that's what I meant. The chord tool in ANA 2 is not really an idea finding tool. Scaler gives you the chord progression, not ANA 2. Still a useful feature but not for developing a chord progression (whether you do it by hand, like I prefer, or use a tool like Scaler).

Thank you! It is one of my favorite synths. I could spend hours messing with it.

There are also a few very nice customs skins, one of them on this website.

I feel that in sound quality, graphically there is a cut in the presets and own waves that any other synthesizer handles, and it is that most of the times I have been testing the ANA 2 presets with a spectrum analyzer; They are between 20.5K maximum response in most ANA 2 presets, curiously they do not contain any filters, and they sound very bright, what the spectrum throws is a cut of up to less 18k, in others without representing well the range , and above all I think that this does not cause WAVEFROM since I speak exclusively of the presets that are designed of only waves; something curious is that even in the default mode (INIT) I can reach the standard of 22k, unlike Sylenth, Spire Etc. As for Sound design, it is very well done and sounds great for the new industry, most surprises , but I am a bit of disagreement with the low quality in response to frequency fidelity that generates most of the presets and sounds it has.

no problem to get waves to go to 20Khz
it's more than enought uyour hear between 20 to 20khz, 22khz only if you are young an preserve your ears from nightclub, live concert loud env, and more you get older more you lose it
if you use bass preset it's normal like lot of sound
  Resident 15.09.2011 1 3764

Exactly. I can hear to about 8kHz and it sounds nice and warm.

thanks. strangely, i don't feel this synth.

I kinda get you, mate. I hate that all sounds, even bass sounds are drowned in FX way too much and some presets are way too loud. Why did they drown every preset in so much FX? To hide the sound quality? Sound designers usually use loads of FX to make *any* synth sound better.

However, speaking of bass sounds, I must admit I found some pretty good ones. Pads, too. But I find the presets sounding rather mediocre. You have to make your own sounds to make this synth shine. Filters sound good, and to say something else in its defence I find it easy to program, plus it doesn't use so much CPU or memory. That is rare these days.

I wonder if you could elaborate more on why you don't feel it?

the problem might come from you sorry, clear sound use a LPF, if you want preset EDM treance with nothing to do take avenger

I think what he may have meant is that it sounds digital. He probably prefers more analog-sounding synths.

you are right... I only make techno so clear sound isn't for me ... so avenger is not too.. diva repro falcon and Arturia are my choice....
