It still amazes me, how, close to 2019, and after a ton of people have repeated the same advices over and over again, on millions of forums and threads,

There still are people that will download, install, run cracks and keygens, run cracked daws, install all kinds of apps, etc etc....with a permanent Internet connection !

I remember reading a comment in kvr, on a Uhe thread, where Urs himself was saying that there were a bunch of people who would CLICK on the instruments LOGO, an Internet browser would launch, would open the 'buy plugin' page, and some people would actually buy the legit version. . He bragged he would make like 2'000$ extra, each month, with those idiots.

Does it require an IQ of 190, to right-click on the internet icon, click 'disable connection', before running keygens, cracks, or even having the daw do a plug-in scan (during the scan, if something is wrong, the plug-in will enable the copy protection, and will eventually try to access a server, 'call home'...) , and when it's done, we will eventually enable the Internet connection. ..

ps. Even if we firewall the dll/ocx/cmd/vst3 files, and we add a line to the hosts file, there is something we always forget: blocking the 'launch the web browser' function.

for example, we may add the line
127.0.0.1 license.pluginxyz.com

but if we uninstall the plug-in, it may launch a webpage:
www.randomsite.com/whyyouuninstall&ip=youripaddress&sn=serialnumberused&dt=currentdate&ln=computerloginname&ip=internetprovider

and by acessing that page, the site owner/plugin maker will know our ip, current login on computer, which serial number we have used...it could be used against us, one day. ..


people, don't use internet while (trying) making music: most problems related to cracks, timebombs, errors, etc etc, exist because of the Internet access. Is it too hard to understand NO INTERNET IF NON LEGIT SOFTWARE IS BEING USED :)

...or even 100% legit... still not good to have an Internet connection enabled.
