S-Gear is a collection of guitar amps, speaker cabinets and effects implemented in software for use with your computer, Windows PC or MAC. The software comes as a Standalone Application and as plug-ins for use with the most popular DAW (digital audio workstation) recording software.

The sound of a boutique tube amp, turned up loud!

The really special thing about S-Gear is the amazing high quality of guitar amp tones achieved simply by plugging your guitar into a computer via an audio interface. S-Gear gives you a professional guitar sound without the expense and hassle. We are talking about the sound of a high quality tube amp, turned up loud, and mic'd up professionally in a suitable acoustic space. S-Gear's boutique designed amps, coupled with accurate convolution based speaker cabinet emulation, provide a massive range of guitar tones.

i've never really used Avid's Pro Tools for important projects, only for messing around and learning it if i ever need it later.
if we do some some random songwriting-recording session with musician friends we always use Studio One.
i use Reaper for mastering and audio-only prejects and testing new vsti's and vsts.
i think i only like the visual and the gui in pro tools. sonar platinum with the dark skin kills it imho

Just a suggestion from a 'paltry' Guitar player :

Although the 'Amp simulations' are really outstanding by themselves...
(a lot of 'Guitar players' out here waited for a working 'cracked' version, I guess ! ), for those that still have some (old) 'Stompboxes' ('Pedals') in either their stock, attic, or cellar ,... take the time to try one of these (or try all these you have) in 'front' of these 'Scuffham' Amps (make proper 'balance' settings depending the kind of 'Stompbox' you'll use) ...and maybe you'll be (very) surprised of the Sound(s) you can get from this 'couple' of gear. Use preferably some 'Overdrive Stompboxes' or the like, rather that some kind of 'Death Metal'/'Extreme' Stompboxes (however, not rules in that matter !). Your Electric Guitar(s) may probably 'sing' like never before...

P.S: As a suggestion because I tried with the followings :

* DOD Overdrive Preamp 250
* DOD Overdrive YJM308 (Yngwie Malmsteen Overdrive Signature)
* T-Rex Alberta Overdrive
* AKAI Custom Shop Analog Overdrive
* Marshall BluesBreaker 2
* Marshall Jack Hammer
* VHT V-Drive
* VOX Satchurator

just to mention a few...

P.S: A last advice will be to plug the 'Output' of your used Stompbox(es) directly into the 'Line' Input of your Audio/Sound Card, instead of the 'Instrument/Mic/Hi-Z' Input(s) if available.
That will sound much more better, and limit some 'extra' noise that could happen when using other kind of Input(s) instead...

I get the same trouble than you !!!

A suggestion (and the solution I use till a workaround could be available for that) is to save the Settings done of your different used Modules ('Amp', 'Delay', 'Mod', 'Convolver',... ), then to reload each of your previously saved Presets within an empty 'slot' (User Presets 100-199), to be able to make your own Amp/FX Chain(s) .

In fact, and in my case, each of my 'customized' Presets saved for each of the available Modules can be recalled at any time afterwards, so if you have make several 'customized' Presets for each of the available Modules, it will take you only a few seconds to build a new Chain according to your desires, and if necessary, to 'fine tune' each Module the way you need, then eventually re-save these newly created Presets to be loaded in the future...

You used Foul language in violation our rules, so your comment have been cleared.

Be aware that we don't tolerate this here.

It's a pity 'cause the technical part of the conversation was interesting... : (

I get file error when I open projects containing S-GEAR. "File not found: American Clean", in the next window: ""File not found: Blue Klaptonite" etc. - I need to click OK 100 times, then it opens and plays the project normally.

From Another place Thanks to the original Poster

"Just in case anyone is having any problems with this installation, i.e. when using multiple instances you get 'file not found' or presets are not saving, see below

I noticed, maybe only due to my installation that certain folders had not been created. The plugin now works without any issue. Presets are saved and I no longer have issues with preset files not loading when using more than one instance.

1. In your Scuffham Amps program folder ' "C:\Program Files\Scuffham Amps" create a new folder 'S-Gear_VST'

2. Cut from your 'C:\Program Files\Scuffham Amps\S-GEAR2' both the 'S-Gear2.exe' and the 'S-Gear2_x64.dll' and paste it into your new 'S-Gear_VST' folder. Recreate a shortcut for the '.exe. file to your desktop or where ever if you require.

3. Rename folder 'C:\Program Files\Scuffham Amps\S-GEAR2' to 'C:\Program Files\Scuffham Amps\S-Gear2'

ADD NEW FOLDERS TO YOUR PROGRAMDATA FOLDER. Name them taking into account upper and lower casing.

3. Add three new folders to your Programdata folder at location 'C:\ProgramData\Scuffham Amps\S-Gear2'
- add folder 'archive'
- add folder 'log'
- add folder 'Presets'

4. Make sure your DAW is set to 'Run As Administrator'
That's it! Hope it works for you. "
