oh come on Oly, it was always allowed on here its one of the things that made it vibrant...have those rules been updated recently with this?.its one of the greatest, most expressive of mankind's inventions..there is no analogue really..you can't exclaim "cunt!" when something is fantastic it doesn't work...to try to stop people using it is akin to censorship imo, you're making the dictionary smaller..its an adult site for adults, i hate this sense of pandering to children and the easily offended..we'll all walk around with gaffer tape over our mouths soon....and fuck is just sounds in the mouth really when it comes down to it. its actually worse saying f*** because its making someone else say it in their heads, not taking the responsibility for saying it yourself.. people know what it means.
i know its probably not an easy job moderating a large site like this and you seem to have been doing an effective job of it..you haven't been too intrusive and been supportive in cases too....a suggestion..how about relaxing the rules on language...unless there's nastiness behind it if its doing no harm on the face of it..allow it..you might be surprised how little it pops up after that?

I use multi-band comp and dynamic EQ on every single mix. It's not really that hard to understand and it's great for taming resonances among other things.

I'm not sure how you can say most mixing engineers have no business touching these things. Shit... To me if a mixing engineer doesn't know how to use a MB comp then they do not know how to do their job.

I didnt say anything about how the hell to use one... its a compressor... yay... it can be frequency dependent... yay... but the need for a mixing engineer.... I have heard countless mastering engineers say this, and it makes sense... What are you doing that "needs" a multiband comp, that cant be fixed earlier in the fx chain... unless you are using a sound that in and of itself is a bunch of tracks already mixed together (kinda like a mastering engineer gets) which is a sample from something... where you do not have access to fix the mix that was done incorrectly... hence the need for a multiband comp.
Last night I used it on one track, but really only as a de-esser type thing on a detuned saw I had going, with the exact same issue, a resonance (or two, since detuned)... I cant consider it really "actual use" of multiband.

The point of using MBC is that you use it just a tad,little bit to get the sound more under control,or abuse it for effect.
MBC has always been used in the industry and its not even that hard,i think mastering reverbs is a lot harder.
