By that logic, the FULLY working already released for 5+ years PT 12.5 HD is also 'good enough' to make music so why not just stick with/go back to that?

Makes no sense to want to move from 12.5 HD (fully working inc HEAT and bounce and all FX) to a more modern (better) version that isn't fully cracked and has some limits, just to get dark theme and some modern niceties (folder tracks, preset chains etc) - because as you said, all these DAWS are 'great' by old standards anyway? hmmm...

Nah, R2R are not about half hacks and bodge jobs, they'll either release it properly this year or not at all and if not at all then wise people will stay on 12.5HD which is still awesome.

Everybody has different needs no doubt. For me, 32 IO just doesn't cut it anymore especially for Livestream.

ProTools changing from 32 IO to 64 IO for the standard version in the 2021.6 updates was historic.

I use a legit version for Livestream, just can't risk any instability.

I installed PT First got the licence then uninstalled it and installed Retail. Replaced the files and that's it. @Havana and myself have posted above on installation. You need both releases for it to work . I'm on Win10 21H1 I can't comment on other OS

????"r2r are surely not done, they are coming back with full crack for Protools. They definitely will be coming back, remember "gong" in nfo guys? They'll be back, just like my dad who said he'll be back from the grocery store buying milk!" A huge L for r2r lol

Protools.dll is the key, It's the only file in my pro tools directory that isn't original, I have narrowed it down that much

so, you could be able to have a full feature, using the protools.exe from ultimate or hd right? (replacing the dll with the one coming from r2r
  Member 27.05.2019 216

Nope, it doesn't work like that, unfortunately, the .dll is pretty much in charge of what version you're running, I put an untouched executable in my pro tools folder and R2R's dll file, it still runs, but still has all the same limits

This is spreading around the net like wildfire, I bet Avid is pitching a fit, I like pro tools as a DAW, but Avid is a horrible company full of greed, I hope R2R keep up the great work and release another crack with more features enabled.......Thanks R2R, for this.....and making Avid bigwigs squirm.......keep it up, you guys are awesome

i think that r2r haven't move because they are waiting for avid' move, like the .11 version of protools or something... and it was obvious that the internet was going to lose their shit watching a new version of protools cracked after several years

waiting for new pace to drop. if pace figured out their method they can release the internal.

Well you had right. Just today they closed PT First license distribution. Like i have said to, because of that they released this just to mock AVID and not the users, because they either have patched version or an ilok license emulation, since they released a FULL RETAIL INSTALLER. That will happen also with Steinberg stuff I just assume and hope too. Because THE GONG they mentioned can be related just to Cubase which have not been cracked for over a decade, a and PT was 5 yrs ago...
They are playing games with developers... I like that...

exactly they made this move just to make fun of avid and their uncrackeable daw. i agree with you, r2r must have an emulator of ilok if you consider that all the major releases have come with one, which is really good because they don't have to redo an entire crack for every version and just a checkpoint. also, they fucked up the ilok security with the wave.
we have to wait to see what happens, but i have never been this excited about cracked software in years

The truth is, I don't understand all the fuss. There are thousands of apps that have been hacked, with protections just as tough as ProTools (some of them even more important) and now everyone is making assumptions about what Avid's next move will be just because R2R launched a so-called hack.
Easy guys! Who the hell cares what Avid will do? The important thing is that, if there is an R2R hack, that it can be used if they intend to share it. That is all.
I would also like to see where are all those who said that "certain protections" could not be hacked and that we were never going to see a launch of this or another application. There are too many of those kinds of people hanging around here.

well defacto thats a partial crack only and they are aware of that. its like cubase extended. r2r going the v r route.

I don't think so , because they are mocking developers, and maybe that VR route is just to demonstrate people that is not right way to make cracks and that they could do that long time ago (meaning to get legit LE license and patch app to use that license). Only VR had a luck to be possible to generate offline licenses for steiny stuff, and there is a difference between iLOK and eLicenser....
In other words and compared to VR extended versions this is properly working for what is being told. VR started that era, R2R will make a new history !

I'm sticking to 12.5 until we get a proper release, this one crashed 3 times on a session I recorded in 12.5, it's not there yet, but it's fun to play around with

Does anyone know what passed the VCA tracks, are they not in this version, or is it because of the R2R version?
  Member 27.05.2019 216

This is just Pro Tools First with a few more features unlocked, so most likely there's no VCA in this version, I haven't looked myself

Weell, another reason to stick with 12.5 HD then.. I use VCA's all the time (esp cos I have a D-COmmand/ICON controller that I use to spill VCA groups out to the 24 faders).

I think R2R will come through in the end... FINGERS CROSSED! :)

Help Please ? Can you use the AudioUTOPIA 12.5.0.395 with this R2R installed? If i install will it mess up this version?
Has anyone got or tried both on one OS?
OS being Win10
  Member 16.01.2014 7

You can use AudioUtopia 12.5 and Pro Tools First at the same time. But you can't install "normal" Pro Tools without uninstalling AudioUtopia release. Avid installer doesn't allowed for that. But keep in mind that if you install only Pro Tools First and then replace the files, a lot of things will not work (exmple: Bounce). If you want to try this release just clone your HDD and then install R2R Pro Tools (You don't need to install PT First, you just need to have active license for PT First)

OK Thanks for reply .. I have the First installed with the Retail version and the replaced files. It works just fine (with first licence already).... so i can install the AU version without any conflicts? Cloning is not an option and a bit excessive I don't have a spare 2TB drive anyway.
By normal do you mean legit?
Thanks for your help

You missunderstood me :) Pro Tools First and Pro Tools - these are different version of Pro Tools. You can install only one Pro Tools on your system. Pro Tools from AudioUtopia is Pro Tools HD (today there is no HD Pro Tools. It is called just Pro Tools or Ultimate). So you can't install Pro Tools from AudioUtopia and from R2R. Only Pro Tools First can work with AudioUtopia Pro Tools installed. You can try, but I am almost perfectly sure that you will have the warning that you need to unistall previous version of Pro Tools to continue install AU Pro Tools.
AudioUtopia Pro Tools HD + Pro Tools First = OK
AudioUtopia Pro Tools HD + Pro Tools (Retail) or Ultimate = NO

But you can try :)
