Schaack Audio Transient Shaper v2.5.0 Incl Patch and Keygen WiN/MAC-R2R screenshot
TEAM R2R 2014.10.16 | WiN: 14.28 MB | MAC: 7.85 MB
Transient Shaper is a dynamics plugin that allows "shaping" of the Attack and Release phases of the sound with 2 knobs only. The effect ranges from gate-like to compressor-like. Transient Shaper is aimed to be used with percussion, but can also be used to process individual channels or loops. The sound it produces is different from "classic" dynamics processors. It is a good tool for adding punch to the mix or to accomplish tasks where classic dynamics sound too harsh. The CPU usage is very low (around 1% per plugin instance or less on more or less modern computers).

V2.x features analog saturation, 3 Attack shapes & 3 Release shapes.

- Makes your sound louder, gives it more expressiveness and more punch
- Ideal for individual or summed drums/percussions shaping
- Unique two-knob manipulation characteristics, not obtainable with any other type of gear
- Processed sound ranges from gate-like to compression-like
- Excellent Gate replacement (sounds smoother than a gate)
- 3 different Attack shapes and 3 different Release shapes
- Saturation for cutting off and smoothing too high transients (generated when using strong Attack)
- Resizable GUI (minimized by clicking in top left corner)
- Low CPU Usage (typically less than 1% on half-decent systems)

- Windows VST (for Windows 98 or better)
- Apple OS X AU & VST (Universal Binary for OS X 10.4.9 or better)
- Now with 64Bit host support for AU on OSX & VST on PC!

Changes in Transient Shaper v2.5

-Seamlessly resizeable user interface.
-VST3 support.
-x64 support for all formats including VST.
-Backwards-compatible to v2.04.

You are so awesome, I literally was just wondering what were the changes in this version. Looking sweet with VST3 and resizable interface. Thanks dingus.

Can't find changelog now, but on an official site about 2.5.0 (since 2.0.4):
VST3 support
Resizable GUI
New GUI look (as I see in "manual 2.5.0" on their site)
.

if your favourite musician Zomboy uses TransientShaper, it doesn't mean that you will be as Zomboy with this plugin. I use sometimes Live9, FM8 and Massive, but I'm not Skrillex.

Corrupt license?

It happens the same to me :(

EDIT: Use the keygen, patch it and then generate a license ;).

Thanks Sunny!

The pre-generated license works only with the VST version, if you want to make it work on the VST3 version you'll have to use the keygen, that's why it wasn't working :P. Greetings!

So what are your opinions on this? Must have or "just there"? I don't want to download everything no more. I just find and use like 50 Plugins (tops) that I know in and out so I can focus on actually doing something with them. Plus, I am trying to build a career in audio stuff at the moment so it's time to condense it down to shit I essentially NEED and I can PAY for. Nahmean? ;)

Good shit, me and the guys were just talking about that. We have pretty much everything we'll ever need and basically just keep stuff updated and that's about it. I only download if I'm actually going to use it. For me it's the SPL transient designer. I don't really see any transient designers out there doing anything ground breaking so if you have one that works I would only think about it if someone says that this does something that unit can't. I notice this unit has a drive parameter which is not present in the SPL as well as different shapes for the attack and release parameters. Might be worth a try.

I'm with you on that, lots of tools for similar jobs… This was one of the first I used years ago, and seemed almost like a miracle at the time…. I like the NI one a lot, but with cpu hit etc… This one doesn't do anything groundbreaking, but is quick and simple and works…. And we both know when you need to get something done in a hurry…. this can strip the ambience off a loop in no time with no sweat, or shape room mics etc...… I have tried most of them, but recently have been going back to this old boy for just simplicity and sheer functionality…

My opinion: This is one of the worst (i.e. ineffective) transient shapers. I've done a little private shootout only to compare how the eight different candidates (both free and commercial) that I had available as a choice sounded because I was curious for myself if they really did "the same job". I can really suggest to everyone: Try them all!
For me, the best were SPL Transient Designer (very "tight" and "in-your-face" attack shaping) and Voxengo TransGainer (more "rounded" tone and more flexible, still can sound very crisp). Note that versions 1.2 and 1.5 sound different, you might want to keep both versions at hand. Voxengo Drumformer is also worth a try.
I usually like the plugs from Varietyofsound very very much, but the transient shapers just didn't cut it in a way that I would have preferred them over the aforementioned ones.

Nice mate, thanks for the useful detailed feedback. Looks like I'll just stick to my SPL then. I'd really be interested if you were willing to post results of shootouts you've done on AudioSex whenever you feel like it. Any advanced members are welcome to pitch in with that as well. Could be a really useful post for a lot of members. No pressure but if you'd be interested I'm sure many others would be as well.

Can I offer you a 48 hour Uploaded.net coupon?

Can't argue there! Good feedback. I haven't laid them all out, just gone with what I had for the job, and it worked for what I had to do (which is different for all of us), and completely subjective. The SPL is great, I guess I probably have used these more to fix stuff in terms of over verbed material etc… so wasn't going for increasing the attack for my purposes… believe me, I am taking your advice next time I need that and going there.
best thing about music, is hopefully we are all doing different things….. and with one goal: communicate as best we can our intent…

thanks for the heads up!

I also did a comparison between many transient designers, and imo the SPL is far from the best.
Yes, it brings out the attack, but almost completely kills the low-end of a kick drum, for example. However, the sustain knob works quite well.

This Schaack Transient Shaper works really well and is easy and fast to set up, but it was unusable for me on a full HD monitor, because of it's tiny GUI.
Now, with the new re-sizable GUI, I like it a lot, and may buy it.
The VST3 version doesn't work properly here... it does not accept the license created by the keygen (nor the already included, pre-generated one).
The VST2 version, however works fine.
It's interesting that the VST2 version's GUI is fully resizeable as well... I always thought that this feature is only possible with the VST3 specification

Other transient designers which work really well:

- Sonnox Transient Modulator:
very good, but also very expensive

- digitalfishphones dominion:
very old, but still one of the best! You can increase the attack by an insane amount, and still maintain the low-end of kick drums at the same time. Unfortunately, not longer supported, so only available as 32 bit and VST2. But, it's free

- Sleepy-Time Records Transient:

Also very good, and freeware!
Available as 64-bit, too.
But it takes more time to set it up correctly than the Schaak one. You absolutely need to mess with the VCA/Envelope timing controls, otherwise you will get a lot of artifacts. But if you take the time to set it up right, you can get very good results.

I rarely contribute to these discussions but I feel the need to voice my opinion on this particular subject. I have the SPL transient designer, the schaack and the Crysonic transilate. Now it depends on your usage of these plugs and what your trying to achieve but I would place the schaack considerably above the other two. The SPL has a habit of injecting huge volume increases when accentuating the attack whereas when the schaack is employed in conjunction with its drive parameter the attack can be increased whilst simultaneously adding headroom. Its like a dynamic expander and compressor in one! Its also vastly more flexible and I personally find it far more sympathetic than the afore mentioned SPL. I would say if you havent tried the Schaack transient shaper you really don't know what your missing (especially if your into Neurofunk, Glitch Hop or Hard Dance where the ability to squeeze every ounce of headroom out the track is a must to obtain the punchiest of mixes). Check out the work of MakO on soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/makomusic, he's a rather incredible producer who swears by the schaack. Enjoy everyone and cheers to Sunny and R2R!

Thanks for your review. Very helpful. I seldom use Transient Shapers, but when I do (mainly for Drums)I like the one from NI for quick tasks (only 2 Knobs in Maschine) and TransX Wide from Waves from time to time which makes me go "wow, it can knock like this?!" a lot. Haven't really used SPL yet, but I might try it now that it was mentioned a lot.

Yup.
I'm afraid there must be something wrong with this: AU fails validation in Digital Performer 8.07, and only show up in Live 9.0.5 but doesn't load, 10.9.5... Hmm. Brat Pitty.
