Our new top of the line synthesizer, the result of 14 years of synthesizer building experience. If you are familiar with subtractive synthesis, you will feel right at home with the Spectral, because you can choose an oscillator waveform, choose a filter shape and go on from there. But Spectral delivers far more options than you would expect from the well sorted user interface. Both Oscillator Waveform and Filter Shape can be edited in depth. The unique audio engine is capable of delivering many sounds never heard before.

Why the heck are they putting protection [Serial Checks] also on the sounds?
The 64 Bits are full of Serial checks……

Cause some additional soundbank are protected and need serial to unlock, they are already in the installer but activated with a serial. R2R unlocked that too, they replaced two hashes,
one for the Spectral serial and one the Ian Boddy Signature pack.

Soundbank Ian is not in the installer since I did install factory installer first then used patched plugins and updated banks there is few banks called add on the name that not comes with factory installer plus Ian Boddy Signature thats the real name not Electronic thats on the nfo file.

the expansion Sounds are serialed too, but that a idea, otherwise people would buy the sounds not.

they unlocked the Soundset too! really nice, now we have the problem that the Soundpack is zipped with a password

I think it sounds crap.

Nothing special what-so-ever....

I just checked out the "Spectral Rays" soundset and I am completely underwhelmed by it!

100 presets for 27 Euros....the problem is the synthesizer in itself!

Let's be honest...."14 Years of Synthesizer Building!" the blurb says!

Well - Albino was okay (Rob Papen's first decent synth).

But!

Alpha 3 = bad freeware - in fact - I prefer "Free Alpha" version 3 than the commercial version! Seriously! A couple of nice patches (bass) from BigTone but that is about it!

Octopus....hmmm....another "not very good" synth....in my opinion!

The patches sound like distorted FM stuff....the envelopes / attack sounds clicky and dirty....

Then we've got SaxLab and DaOrgan! Cheap sounding imitations!

I mean - why bother?

And don't even mention "Element P".....a real bad sounding "percussive synth" sound generator....bloody awful.....and he charges money for it!

Keep your money - and grab some freeware instead that sounds much better....

Thin and nasty hi-pass filter rubbish (Spectral!)

I hate how all these developers are trying to make "DubStep" synths these days!

Basically - just filter modulation / LFO / Envelope controllers....


So what "DO" I like?


Audjoo Helix, Zebra, Diva, ACE, Reaktor (Prism, Monark, Razor), Omnisphere, Trilian, FM7 (prefer this to FM8 - lol)

Vaz Modular, Steinberg A1, Monologue, Embracer (don't laugh!), XPhraze, Hypersonic 2, Kontakt, SynthSquad...these lot are quite good!

Linnplug sucks as a rule of thumb!


I love it - on KvR - some developers sent me private messages saying that I was "destroying" their business by calling them "Crap" on the forums!

Okay - so I am "taking money" out of his family's mouths if he loses a sale through my opinions!

BUT -> Think of the buyer! The person who is giving their cash to the developer and receiving a lousy product with no mileage...

how long you have you worked with Spectral? i beta tested this thing and i love it.

it was in no way intented to be dubshit synth, it was intented to replace Albino3, because this discontinued.
seriously you guys are awful childish and have no ideas, what you can do with it. check out the ian boddy soundset and youll see what im talking about.
honestly i sick of Sylenth1 and other generic synths, where the waveforms are overnoisy.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Chris. You could say I'm a sound designer since I rarely use any presets and usually make my own sounds. When you make presets from scratch you can really tell how good a synth is or not. I really like the oscillators and just about 90% of this synth, but the filter is so 2005. Lifeless. I heard better filters in freeware synths like Togu Noisemaker or u-he Podolski - just off the top of my head. Not to mention standalone paid-for filters like Cytomic The Drop or synths like Diva or Bazille. The filter on this one just leaves me wanting. :( However, once you get over it and concentrate on the other parts of the synth you can get some really cool sounds. Just my honest opinion.

That doesn't mean I don't appreciate the release... I actually highly appreciate this release so... Thank you R2R and Sunny!

I only love Crx4 from Linplug !
The most deceptive was Octopus : i was expecting Rob Papen quality...and tried an agressive glitchy synth with spicky attacks

If i wanted "alternative" synths, i would go for Rob Papen :
Albino (RIP)
Blue (nice FM)
Predator (very nice personality)
SubBoomBass (simple, but effective)

About this Spectral synth, i'm still in between. Some nice personality, but lacking "punch".
Can i say for now i prefer Z3ta or Razor ?

see and ther eis the point, i hate Z3ta for their stupid way to unison, i tried some many times to get some decent pads with it done. Razor is a cpu hog and lives in reaktor dont like that either.
i some how like the filters in Spectral, you can some awsome soundscapes with it. and i think its true with the puch, but why should an ambient synth have punch? O.o

I don't know why everyone is slagging this synth, I've gotten some wicked sounds out of it. You've got to get in there and edit those harmonics and filters, assign modulators and get to work with some automation envelopes. If you want to be a preset monkey your whole life, then stick to Spire and you can sound just like Aoki or whatever. The arpeggiator is powerful as well and you can use it as a modulation source. The presets are largely underwhelming, as with most synths.

There is no problem with possibilities and features on this synth...trouble is the sound itself.
No punch, nothing special. Whatever it output...it is liveless. Complex, agressive...but liveless.
I can get more "bite" by tweaking Z3ta, Komplexer or Razor.
Same applies to Massive : i don't like it, not because of features, ease of use, workflow, possibilities...i just hate how it sounds. I don't care if it is supposed to be a "must have" or "must love". It was supposed to be the synth used by Skrillex for wobble bass...whereas it was FM8
