energyXT is one of the most flexible VST sequencers available. You can even run it inside another sequencer as a VST plugin. energyXT was voted top 3 in the KvR member survey (in the Overall commercial host of the year category). You simply cant go wrong with energyXT. Easy to use MIDI & audio sequencer with track freeze, track groove and time-saving ghost clips. The easy to use Piano roll features a great step mode for quickly entering drum beats and basslines. There's even a random function for making variation of drums, bass and melodies.

Built-in polyphonic sampler with multi-mode filters and powerfull modulation routing. Create great sounding patches with envelopes, LFO's, the built-in delay and unison effect. Loads 16 / 24 / 32-bit samples in moro/stereo. Create your own custom skins, or download user skins from the internet. Almost anything in energyXT can be replaced by a color or bitmap.

Thank you *so much* for the Linux version, funtime! And big thank you UNION, of course!

Jorgen is showing us the way to go... truly multiplatform , not just OSX and Shitdows. :) This is going to be my first DAW installed in Linux! I use Linux Debian LXDE and it's the best distribution of Linux I've tried so far. Works and looks soooo smooth. I'm in heaven after using Windows for more than 20 years! [since Windows 3.11 and DOS] :) Such a good and IMO absolutely necessary change and the timing couldn't be better with Micro$oft looking so absolutely stupid and making so much crap lately... I'll make a huge celebration when they go down all the way.

Cheers!

There is no perfect OS. Each of them has its ups and its downs. Windows has tons of good software (but could be better-looking), MacOSX is good-looking and smooth (but could have much more software) and Linux is veeery stable (but the big softwares for serious music/audio/video production are not there). Currently, in 2014, sticking to ONLY one operating system is not being clever. It's like ONLY eating eggs or ONLY wanting to know, say, canadian girls. The world has become many worlds in one. There are many horizons to discover. After all, the history of mankind is the history of exploration, else we would all still be monkeys jumping from tree to tree.

Windows + MacOSX + Linux... Either virtualized (VMs), multibooting or on different machines. It's like "Food? let me try all of it!" or "Girls? Brig 'em ALL!"

YES, This is the way to go!!! energyXT? Definitely, I'll give it a go...

Great, thank you. Gotta try that one. Funny that the linux version is 10 times smaller than osx :D

Jorgen is a bit conservative programmer, so yes - no multi-core support nor 64-bit, unfortunately. That's one really huge drawback of EXT. V1.4 that I run in XP actually has some kind of multi-core support at least. It's not easy to write a program to be multi-threaded. That's what discerns boys from real programmers. :)

But anyway, it's a great program. Many DAWs could learn from it's workflow a lot IMO. Modular looks, virtual cables, piano roll like in Cubase... it's got the best elements of many DAWs. If only it's been programmed by a better programmer it would be fantastic, I'm sure.

Btw. I don't intend to do audio in Linux, at least not yet. I do want to experiment with it a bit, though, but I'm keeping the shitty XP just for audio until it rots. :) We are forced to use this or that OS for different applications by shitty corporations. Once Linux becomes more popular we will not have to worry about anything proprietary and there will be so much less problems with computers on the software level in general. Linux and Unix in general are the only real OSes in existence and I tell you - IT WILL PREVAIL sooner or later. Mark my words, guys.

In capitalism companies are born and they can easily die, too. Open Source/GNU will never die. Every each and one of these proprietary OSes and softwares will die out sooner or later and when you buy something like Windows it's the same as if you wiped your arse with that money. These OSes you use are stolen from Open Source mostly anyway. Like OSX [FreeBSD with Apple "desktop environment"] or stolen like XP [MS stole so much shit from open source and other small companies they ruined it would take too long to count them all]. They steal and then sell to people. Keep supporting these companies. It tells a lot about what kind of people you are. If you're forced to use it, then at least use it with disgust,

If I told you that I support Ku-Klux-Klan, what would you think of me? ;) That I'm a racist scum. And you would be absolutely right. What you support makes you who you are and I support and stand for open sourced OS in which we can know what's going on inside of it - no NSA spying, freedom of software and its code, freedom of the Internet, people's rights and freedom of speech! It's all connected and the OS you use on your computer is a big part of it all! Especially if you paid for it. If you pirated it then... Stealing from crooks is not stealing at all!

Cheers!
