Barricade CM is included as a free plugin in the latest issue of Computer Music magazine. You can purchase the issue online for £2.99 via Zinio (it is also available on Apple Newsstand and Google Play).

The plugin is based on the full version of TB Barricade by ToneBoosters. The CM version of TB Barricade lacks the “auto saturate” stage and the variable lookahead control functionality of the full product. It is fully functional in all other aspects and based on the same limiting and compression algorithms as the standard version of TB Barricade.

A Note: If you want to remove the CM-Logo from your TB Barricade CM just mouse click on the AU or VST > Show Package Contents > Contents > Resources > remove the image called "cm.png". That's all!

For a moment I kept wondering why in the video he said "set your tempo to 130 BPM", like what the hell does that matter?! Then he said to load up the audio clips from the tutorial folder. Looks good anyway... look forward to hearing what the full version with Auto Saturate can do.

It is a good idea to match the release of the limiter to tempo. Like 250 or 500ms for 120 BPM, 230/460 for 130 BPM etc. Just use a calculator to divide 60000/BPM.

This is a very good limiter, but you need to compress a bit and EQ a bit before limiting, as is always the best practice. I also use a bit of saturation to soften the peaks before going into the limiter, the point being to make the job for the limiter as easy as it can be. Proper mix will make the job easier for the limiter. ;)

Interesting Calculations for the Release Time. If I understand this correctly – and please correct me if I'm wrong – it works like this:

1. Converting 1 Minute into Milliseconds equals: 60.000 ms
2. Deviding 60.000 ms by X-BPM equals the Release Time for 1 Beat/Bar.
Example: Release Time for 90 BPM would be 60.000/90 = 666,66 ms = 0,66 s

In this example of 90 BPM, 0,66 s is the time that the limiter needs to fully release the signal before the next bar starts. So it is in sync with the groove. And if you devide that time by 2 or multiples of 2 it stays in sync with the grid (1/2 Bar, 1/4 Bar and so on) which can be useful, if you want to force the limiter to create a pumping effect, right?

I'm so damn glad i did not purchased Cakewalk Rapture (luckily because they do not respond to support tweets).
I think they had a deal for €50 6 or 12 months ago probably because they already felt Rapture is obsolete compared to their competitors (their trial version crashed my legit Ableton Live 9).

Let's see whether if it's fixed when it comes with Computer Magazine, or they just bundled obsolete software.

Yeah interesting "give away" deal from CM .... I wonder if the CM version of rapture is really a full version! .... one of the best synths around since 5 years or so!
