The VSM is an intuitive but highly powerful Virtual String Machine which captures many of the sounds from this genre of instrument, containing a wealth of sounds from a small mountain of classic and rare string machines. These range from the first commercial string ensembles (Eminent 310 & Freeman String Symphonizer) through to the highly lauded Solina, Elka Rhapsody, Logan String Melody, Korg PE2000 and many more.

The modern, polyphonic string synthesizer was invented in 1970 by Ken Freeman, a British keyboard player and engineer who discovered that if you layered a note with another detuned and slightly modulated version of itself, a pleasant ‘chorused’ sound resulted.

Even though Ken's invention wasn't the first instrument of this genre to be commercially released (That honor fell to the Eminent organ company with their 310 Unique organ) there's little doubt that Ken's vision contributed immeasurably to electronic music over the next few decades in the guise of over 100+ different models that followed from a huge variety of manufacturers.

With the sheer amount of instruments captured within the VSM, it's simplicity itself to recreate all those golden string machine tones from yesteryear. However, with the VSM's comprehensive, yet intuitive feature-set, plus a two-layer option it's now possible to create your own hybrid instruments taking these sublime vintage tones into hitherto unchartered territory.

Yeah… that would probably be me then tongue Well actual, probably not ! As someone who played the originals of some of these in bands, OB8, Solina, Elka… I was always let down by these machines as I was expecting them to sound like people playing violins (strings - according to how you flipped the switches), and of course they never did no
Even now, with high quality sample libraries, we're still not there yet… close, but no coconut sad But then who of us musicians can afford to hire a philharmonic orchestra dunno
In the meantime, I would certainly have added this to my library to get "those sort of sounds", if it had not been for the lack of a 64bit Mac version. I have given up on 32bit stuff and 64bit cracks (and even originals, like Abbey Road stuff) don't seem to be coming too fast on the Mac side. damn

Power PC is an OLD MAC older then 2006 and do NOT have intel cpu and Mac OS dont like old software hence buy newest stuff all time or you are screwed.

It goes the other way around too if you have old Mac you cant use newer software hence all Kooka:s angry posts in this forum.

Nope, it's an iso with a dmg inside, and an .app inside that. You could of course use pacifist or just show the contents of the app, but moving the component across still doesn't work in Logic.

For anyone still unclear, this is working on windows 7 64-bit (as a 32-bit plugin) using the original serial number from the old Team Air Release.

It is just the installer that now works on x64 systems, but the plugin itself is still only 32-bit.
