Just one question to NI Maschine + NI Massive...I didnt installed them yet because all of the available presets here sound like if my hamster farts because of megaaaaaa diarrhea. Has anybody here have experience in using Massive as a normal synth? I mean to create normal sounds...not these dumb step trash?

vank,

I need an answer!!!!!! I really like NI products but all I ever heard produced with Massive or Maschine sounds like shit to me. So is it also possible to use them for other than Dub Step, Techno, Electro, House, Progressive, Complextro or what ever all these genres are called?!

Ok, Dl the Adam van Baker soundsets and analyze how those are programmed. That would be a good exercise

Massive can make lots of nice sounds. I've used it for a few years now. Most for baseline sounds, but in general I can make any sound I like. Why I like Massive?
Massive is very logic and has an endless way to route your sounds. The different waveforms can make the most sounds you wish, also the modulators give you freedom to control all you wish for. Also I like the color and logic! Nothing to confuze you about. The only thing I find weak are the filters. They are a bit weak but can be fixed with some additionally work. Like use external filters...etc..
So yeah, Massive doesn't just sounds like a farting hamster and only dub-step :P It's moooooore :D
Cheerz!
Oh, it can bark and meow too :D

Cause it's easy to make those sounds and sell them to people who want to make popular music with minimal effort, lol.

@ Lukehh,

...because all of the available presets here sound like if my hamster farts because of megaaaaaa diarrhea.

"...megaaaaaa diarrhea..." rofl

This is mainly due to these recent Music Styles for which this Soft Synth
is really a 'lethal weapon' !

Has anybody here have experience in using Massive as a normal synth? I mean to create normal sounds...

yes Of course ! And I'm pretty sure that not only "here" (at 'AudioZ'),
but also plenty of other MASSIVE' users worldwide as well...
I'm one of them ! yes
I must certainly be a bit too 'old' to all these new Sounds (Dubstep, DnB, Complextro,... ), but you can trust me that you can achieve almost
any kind of 'regular' Synth sounds that you dream of with MASSIVE. yes
Moreover, you can use its several and specific 'Macro Controls' to assign Modulations, Effects,... the possibilities are almost endless !
Maybe a good way for you to get and/or create 'regular' Synth sounds
is to start from 'scratch', by using a 'simple' Preset, then add all
your desired changes (OSC Waveforms, FX, Modulations,... ).
You can really create great Leads, Keys, Basses, Pads, Soundscapes,...
with it. yes

And as so well stated by 'Lisapower' :

It's wrong to set barriers! Creativity is the key!

yes wink

lukehh,

Underneath, it's still the typical synth, with a mod matrix and some effects.
The classic synth sounds are programmable, but a lot of market patches focus on Massive's ability to
create edgy EDM and beat oriented sounds.
It's actually a VERY good synth. There should be some programming tutorials around here.
I've owned many great hardware analog synths over the decades, but I've learned to appreciate a few good plugins along the way.
This is actually one of them. It can do more than burps and hamster farts. yes

I'm sorry but I have to agree with Lukehh. I know Massive, I've heard nearly all the presets that can be found for it, and I can confirm that the Massive sound generators are based on some hamster farting waves. Granted, it sounds modern, granted, it sounds fat. But I've never heard a single "clean" sound coming from it. Even the pads, that are supposed to be cleaner than dubstep basses, sound like somebody's vomiting in your preamp. Try it by yourself : when you think you got a clean instrument in Massive, compare it with any actual VSTi by recreating nearly the same, and, unless your ears and monitors are crap, you'll hear a huge difference. Massive has a really great sound, but according to me it simply CAN'T produce clean sounds. I produce electronic music, so of course I use and love Massive. But I use it only for fat and gritty synthesizers, or various completely crushed lead synth, but everytime I try to use it for synthesizers that are not supposed to sound like they've come a very long way, the sound is awful. It's definitely not a polyvalent synth, it's for fatness. True, if you are creative you probably can create mostly clean sounds with it, but there's not a single VSTi on Earth, so why the hell would you use a dirty and fat synthesizer for clean or subtile sounds ? Let's use each synth for what it has been made for !

Thanks a lot for this explainations about this synth. Maybe I should start a competition here for the best "hamster fart" sound! And then we can publish the "Official Audioz hamster fart library for NI Massive" rofl
I think I will give Massive a try. Maybe I could use it for some works.

As already mentioned..thanks a lot. I really thought this one is only useful for creating sound I've heard in all these useless (for my kind of music) presets that can be found here.

LOL at the hamster farting thing... yes, i know what you mean, but you can do all kind of sounds with Massive. You should try the factory presets and see it for yourself.

What synths (regardless of "type" or version) do you use Lukehh and Samples? Heres a small list of known soft synths:

Nexus
Sylenth
Element
Zebra
Absynth
Massive
Dive
ACE
Poizone
Einklang
Izotope Iris
B4
Reaktor
FM8
Sytrus
Z3ta
(Stock Synths of DAWs)
Virus
Diversion
Discovery
Arturia Stuff
KORG Stuff
Rob Papen Stuff
Omnisphere
Symphtohm
Cyclops
Tone2 Stuff

Because that list sums it up. I can name 7 of those that are outstanding and continuously used products personally. The rest are sub-par or lack features that others offer, direct from the box.

Top favorites are (in no order):

Z3ta
Zebra
Massive
Absynth
Reaktor
Iris
Omnisphere

Tell me those arent some of the best soft synths. You can make a massive sound that sounds comparable to a true Modular Macbeth setup. Your 'trained ears' can claim a difference but to the common ear (95% of listeners), they cant tell the difference. Most of the listeners dont even know what a modular synth is or how to set up a 5.1 surround sound. So what does over-working and over-spending accomplish? Basically comparable sounds.

Sylenth is over-rated and outdated. All these EDM heads love that and Nexus because Swedish house mafia or avicii uses it. Not because they can get their own original sound from it. Z3ta is great for many original sound creations, and Omnisphere is extremely crisp and clean and sounds great. Though it needs some more support from the team and industry.

I usually don't have problems getting programs to work. With these NI expansions, I can never figure out what to do when it comes to the Activation Key through the service center. Can anyone help on what to do?
