Kuassa BasiQ 2 Equalizer v2.0.0 VST VST3 AU AAX WiN MAC [FREE] screenshot
15/01/2025 | VST VST3 AU AAX WiN MAC | 38 MB
BasiQ2 is an update of our Baxandall Simple Equalizer, a free 3-band equalizer plugin. This simple and straightforward tone shaping tool is modeled after the style of a classic shelving Baxandall Equalizer, renowned for its slick slope and natural-sounding filter. We overhauled the whole engine, interface, and also added new features for this multi-purpose tone adjustment device.

BasiQ2’s straightforward controls allow you to add presence, clear the mids, or boost the bass as necessary. It is suitable for mixing and mastering purposes with its neutral and wide bandwidth where it’s more beneficial as a sweetening tool than as a surgical or corrective EQ.

I dig Kuassa, and I keep BasiQ in my list of tools but, even besides the idiocy of camouflaging the knobs, this interface is just straight ugly—it looks like a Formula 500 car #%-ed a soccer jersey, minus the decals. I'm curious if the "engine overhaul"—whatever that actually entails—is worth subjecting myself to the visuals.
Good catch, LDVN, regardless of my aesthetic gripes.

...& Have you managed to come to any interesting conclusions? Indeed I also like the original BasiQ, but can't bring myself to download or try the new one. I spewed in my mouth when I saw that disgusting new GUI! :')

Interesting ones? No.
I threw it onto something I was working on yesterday as well as into PD and the curves are the same, with the new HP/LP being at 18dB, the same as the 18dB cuts on VUMTdeluxe which I have in my both my default channel chains, so I could easily argue it's a mild workflow convenience, but I could also take the same easy stance and claim that it's a redundancy. The basics of audio production essentially come down to perspective, what best compliments the way our brains work... or don't work.
The GUI is a huge upgrade though, with four under-the-hood parameters to change, including the Horizon/Portrait option, which I dig; the fact the settings panel rivals the actual plugins functional interface in complexity, and yet still don't have a setting to un-ugly-fy it, is saddening.
It also now has the option to double-click to bring knobs back to zero/default.
If the graphics don't smack you upside the eyeballs wrong, it's a nice, if small upgrade.
