merry christmas!!!

i was getting bored of the original nexus, i appreciate this very much

i'm having trouble finding the 'Nexus Content' folder to install the skin, where is it located on mac?

I put it in the Skins folder in my Nexus library but it doesn't show up in the plugin under the skin selector option...

the main trick is "not" unzip the Skins and to put all ZIPs in
NEXUS Library Folder / Skins / N5 Retro / (the zip's)

thanks for the infos

Actually, (on windows at least) I've found that the skins are read better
Unzipped. When changing skins sometimes the dials would glitch.
A quick reload of the plugin will fix that, but I hadn't run into that problem when I dump them into their own folders.

I can only really speak in regards to the skins I was creating. I had no interest in the factory skins.
If you're able to correct me, then you understood me fine in the first place. prick.

thank you very much, mate.

i already did it... but without success.

when i turn on the Nexus, i go to the upper right icon (N5) and the "Skin browser" option continues to appear in gray, without being clickable.

You'll have to click on the N2 Retro button first then click on N5 and Skin Browser and you should be able to select a skin from there

You haven't by any chance modified where your library/expansions are stored in the settings.json have you?

settings.json file located in
/Users/Shared/reFX/nexus

Check the path for
"library_folder":

In that folder create another folder called Skins and inside the Skins folder make a folder called N5 Retro drop in that zip file as mentioned previously, restart your DAW and launch Nexus just to be 100% sure

So the path will be something like:
/YOUR/PATH/Skins/N5 Retro
Hackintosh | OpenCore 1.0.4 | macOS Sequoia 15.4
Z490i | 10700K | 64GB DDR4 | RX 5700 XT

i've already done it, without success, but this is all a bit strange:

in Nexus 5.1.8, the N2 Retro mode appears "broken" when i put this mode and its native retro skin is not placed correctly... and, then, when i go to the upper right icon (N5) and the "Skin browser" option continues to appear in gray, without being clickable.

on the other hand, on Nexus 5.1.6, the N2 Retro mode skin works as it should. BUT, when i go to the upper right icon (N5).. the "Skin browser" option IT DOESN'T EVEN APPEAR!!!!!

v5.1.8: https://ibb.co/9wpLPrn

So the solution to the default retro skin not showing in 5.1.8 is to replace the retro folder that is located in
/Library/Application Support/reFX/nexus/Assets

That's really odd regarding the Skin Browser option not appearing in 5.1.6/being greyed out when in N2 Retro mode on 5.1.8

I've provided the retro folder & the N5 Retro folder here:
download from free file storage

I would say, try again with these in place with 5.1.8 running and report back.

I've made sure to include instructions for Mac & Win users so please lmk if there are any errors or if something is hard to understand so I can fix it :)
