Focusrite Red Plug-In Suite v2.0.4 WIN MAC Incl Keygen-R2R screenshot
Team R2R | 2024.09.08 | 67.1 MB
The Red 2 and Red 3 Plugin Suite accurately models Focusrite’s classic Red range equalizer and compressor hardware – letting you exploit the originals’ famous sound, conveniently from within your audio software. Coveted by producers and engineers for their exceptional clarity and versatility, the original Red 2 and Red 3 remain prized fixtures in professional recording studios the world over. Now, you can use these revered pieces, easily and flexibly, in your own mixes.

The Red range
The Red range was introduced in 1994 and remains among Focusrite’s most successful and recognizable hardware products. Encased in half-inch thick red anodized aluminum body, with polished steel top and bottom covers that feature the classic ‘ff’ detailing, the original Red units are unmistakable. Their natural, unobtrusive sound and distinctive style have earned them ‘iconic’ status in the pro audio world. Almost every major studio owns, or has at some time hosted, a Focusrite Red.

Red 2
The Red 2 hardware is derived from the ISA 110 equalizer circuits, initially designed for the sidecar upgrade of the Neve console at Sir George Martin’s Air Studios, London. Its flexible 6-band configuration with high and low-pass filters is powerful and responsive. Distinguished by its subjectively warm and smooth sound, the Red 2 is extremely versatile and remains highly sought-after.

Red 3
The Red 3 hardware, similarly, uses the same circuit topology as the ISA130 compressor module, based around an innovative proprietary VCA design that earned Focusrite a TEC award for Outstanding Technical Achievement in Signal Processing Technology. The Red 3 is famous for being able to retain a natural sound, even when significant compression is being applied. As such, it has remained the choice of many of the world’s finest mix engineers, such as Chris Lord-Alge, who continues to religiously place his Red 3 over the mix-bus.

Tap into the ‘Red’ sound
The Red 2 and Red 3 plugins faithfully reproduce the sonic qualities of the hardware, allowing you to get detailed dynamic and tonal control of your mix, and tap into the classic ‘Red’ sound – the sound of professional recording studios all over the world – with the mere touch of a button. Featuring stunning graphics that evoke the trademark red sheen of the originals and faithful sonic modeling, they’ll fast become the go-to weapon in your plugin arsenal.

I wonder how these compare to the stock logic comp

IMHO the stock logic comp beats this one no questions asked. And that's coming from someone who's used it as a focusrite option for years

I was curious because funnily, the only module I don't use is the Studio VCA (and rarely Platinum Digital), but knowing how good the other types sound I never expected less.

I had the focusrite 26IO and the plugins that came with tat where way way better, with out the hardware they gave guitars a incredible sound like the consoles, I think they where midnight plugs, they called them the Safire plugin suite, these are the best focusrite plugs I ever tried and I own every thing out there

The Midnight Suite indeed sounds good and was coded by the DMG dev, if I'm not mistaken.

this is for CLA lovers, thats the compressor he has on his mix buss

I remember the old plugin having a very clean and transparent sound, probably no harmonic or saturation or non-linearities additions to the sound, only the original compressor behaviour

I dont remember the eq. Anyhow worth a try in 2024

He has the hardware version or the software version of the compressor on his mix bus?

The irony of these plugs is the very hardware they copy is not special at all. Focusrite took off the shelf IC's and designs and put them in very fancy boxes with switches, knobs and 19" box costing more than the electronics and everyone for decades was like drooling over how good they sounded, when in fact they are very transparent. The same placebo effect has been happening in the plugin space for decades... you probably need like 2 or 3 eq plugins and that is it...

lets say "ok for the plugins"

you saying that millions of engineers did put Red series on billions of unforgettable pop music hits only because the units looked fancy and for a placebo effect...but you are the only one to have noticed it?

The compression is nothing special but the magic in the box of Red 3 is driving the makeup gain into the Carnhill pumpkin transformer for some really rich harmonics. This is how CLA uses it, and Howie Weinberg uses his red 3 just for that, there's no compression. Slate modelled that effect in VBC, which sounds pretty good The old Focusrite plugins didn't do this, I don't think that has changed.

I got them for free some years ago when I bought a Clarett interface. Used them once or twice, maybe. They were not that impressive. As far as I can tell they are super clean and add no harmonics, so in theory any stock plugin can do what they do equally well, if not better, but thanks anyway!

hm, i use them only because of their images,
and i'm so glad, that the knobs are turnable :)
