Our goal with TextToSample is to enable the producer community to experiment with state-of-the-art generative AI models. We want to show what’s currently possible with these models, especially when running them locally on your computer. TextToSample’s purpose is certainly not to replace human musicians, which it’s not capable of doing anyway.

TextToSample uses Meta's MusicGen model weights, which are licenced under CC BY-NC 4.0. In particular, the weights of the "small" model are used.

All calculations are done locally on your computer. You only need an Internet connection to download the models when you open TextToSample for the first time.

What hardware do I need?
An Apple M1 chip with Neural Engine or a GPU is highly recommended. Otherwise the model will take a long time to generate audio.

Windows: 10 or higher
MacOS: 11 or higher

With stable sound like synth notes and pads or Bass, it can create some decent sound and can be useful. Otherwise, it creates a lot of noise.

Where does it get the samples from? Does it make them or just gets them from an online storage? Or are they just taken off the net ?

Ah OK just went to the site... Interesting stuff be good if someone could fix this to full version . Thanks for the upload would not have seen this otherwise

the audio is generated from models, which are downloaded and stored locally - so the audio is live generated on your CPU.

VST3 is not working !! it tries , fails doesn't produce anything!!
used it in windows 10 , inside Studio One v6.2
But,
standalone version works perfectly !! yes it takes almost aminute to produce 13s audio tracks
but as inspiration, way more than welcomed

Money Grab. Generation of sounds is slow, quality of sounds are awful. Reminds me 2005-2010 when beatmakers put 96 kbps demos of their beats to stores (to avoid stealing)

you need a CPU with AI cores for it to faster generate something! check M1 for example.

no wonder it doesnt know what techno, ambient, trance, etc is, there is nothing in the used dataset about that: hxxps://ai.honu.io/papers/musicgen/

but i guess it is very hard to source a better free dataset.

I really like the usage of the plugin, its fast and generating something, is quite fast. Also the SAL is a good idea.

saving sounds, worked like a charm for me and it works offline!

So, i guess, its a insider beta, cause no plugin version on official page besides this statement: The VST3 plugin will be available in the comming days.
