Get in the zone

Don't get confused - this is not multi-band compression. Neodynium is an entirely different beast. Why always apply the same compression to all audio levels? Compress the louder levels with a quick attack; expand the lower levels with a slow release and leave the mid level sounds alone. Try it with a traditional compressor - you won't get far. Neodynium lets you break your audio levels up into "zones" so you can control them exactly how you want. No one size fits all compression here.

What are you looking at?

Thought you knew compression? Think again. Neodynium lets you visualize compression in a way you've never seen before (no transfer curves here). Just like a graphic equalizer provides valuable information for your equalization efforts, so does Neodynium provide critical info for your compression efforts. No more shooting in the dark - just the info you need for total control.

That's the key

Left channel, right channel, both or sidechain - Neodynium let's you choose the audio that will trigger its compression. Like it fast and hard or slow and smooth? You choose: select from Peak or RMS analysis of your key to get the results you want. And once you've got that nailed, get busy with the three available filters (7 filter types to choose from) to tweak your key audio to meet your needs. Whether you're ducking, de-essing or trying something new, Neodynium's key has you covered.

Features, features, everywhere

Neodynium's compression meters indicate how your attack and release are affecting the compression. Cloud meters show you where your audio levels are concentrated. There's even a built-in "Auto-Limiter" for those times when you want to ensure your audio doesn't go in the red. Automatic gain compensation, look-ahead, and more.

I remember the hype when released but its interesting the plugin didn't seem to be a success or the idea.

are there any other kinds of "graphic compressor" out there?

Playfair Audio Dynamic Grading.

According to Playfair, their Dynamic Grading plug-in is "an entirely novel approach to dynamic processing of audio". I knew that there was another plug-in that had done this long ago, but I could never remember the name of the company or plug-in. Thanks to mnk, now I know! :)

I have seen that you have been posting all these classic vst and epic teams for a long time. I wanted to thank you for them. Although I don't know if I'm going to download them now. I love to see them here and it brings back very nice memories. Many of these vst I didn't even remember the name.
If you only look at one side of the coin, you'll never truly know if it's a coin.

Looks exactly like a plugin by Roger Nichols, that became RNDigital plug called D4. Didn't realise it got redeveloped again, although looks like they just went back to original skin, RND skins were not good was opinion when they changed.. Liked the key filter back in the day.
Most useful plug of their set I used to use was the Finisher or later Detailer.

It's the same plugin. They pulled in Nichols in a desperate attempt to stay in business, hoping the pedigree he established with studio obsessed Steely Dan would help them gain traction in a crowded plugin market. If I remember correctly, the Finisher/Detailer was Nichols' own innovation. Otherwise, the other stuff was developed by Elemental alone. They just threw his name on everything in the end. He died not long after the company folded.

I was always curious about the compression approach offered by this plugin. When it came out, I was too inexperienced to make good use of it. I am also surprised that some other company hasn't picked up where they left off. I imagine that parallel and upward compression can accomplish some of the same things that this plugin does, but certainly not in such a deliberate way.
